As for mapping out the way to castles, you’ll want to put your pin on Hever Castle & Gardens (25 minutes). The childhood home of Anne Boleyn, this fortress has lose-yourself worthy mazes and gardens, as well as regular family-friendly activities. Another place to get happily lost, the 13th-century Tonbridge Castle (10 minutes) runs audio tours. But back to the present, you’ll be all immersed in nature at the Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve (20 minutes), a hot birdwatching spot. And as for Royal Tunbridge Wells (25 minutes), well, this is the place to count off the boutiques, galleries and shops along The Pantiles Georgian colonnade. Come summertime, jazz concerts and other events bring this market town to life too.
