Give yourself a new lease of life with a stay at Lunesdale Escapes and New House Caravan Park, a gorgeous site just outside Kirkby Lonsdale and halfway between the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District national parks. This family-run business is based in the small settlement of Cowan Bridge, mere minutes from the larger market town of Kirkby Lonsdale and its thriving high street, where you can explore a variety of independent shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants, or browse the popular weekly market. It's sometimes tricky to find dog-friendly accommodation, but you'll face no such problems at Lunesdale Escapes and New House Caravan Park, as this pet-friendly park allows four-legged friends (please make sure all dogs are kept on leads while out and about around the site though). Shared facilities on site include bathrooms, a washing-up area and a launderette (for those inevitable bits of mud you'll pick up while out exploring the nearby national parks).

Positiv Nice site, very quiet apart from the sheep and cows but certainly no complaints for us.
Well setup site - didn’t see the owners but noticed our name and pitch number in the window at reception
Pitch hard standing was rock hard for awing pegs had to use impact driver to get them in.

Negativ Wi-Fi was weak and couldn’t really use it, not that we was really bothered as phone signal was good.

The beautiful site and location…

Positiv Lovely quiet campsite in beautiful surroundings. We were able to walk directly from the site into lovely countryside along with our two dogs. Nice facilities too. Within walking distance of the lovely town of Kirkby Lonsdale.

Positiv The site was clean and tidy. Toilets blocks were well maintained. Most pitches are hardstanding although many are sloping pitches especially towards the back where we stayed. Access into the site was clear and easy. Close to Kirkby Longdale.

Negativ We never saw the owners at all. The office was always closed with a message to phone the owner if needed. We had reserved a pitch, but a message in the office window said to park-up anywhere.
Water tap has slow pressure, no where to empty motorhome grey waste.
Although access into the site is ok, access near the office could be widened.
I felt that the cost for this site (£30 per night) was expensive.
There was no clear footpath to walk safely through the fields into Kirkby but encourage to walk on the very busy A road. Owner could put suggested route in the office window.
No dog walk.

Positiv Absolutely brilliant little site, with good well kept facilities. Good size pitches with water points located around the site. All the staff and people on site were friendly. Well kept grass areas for the kids to mess about on. Very good WiFi Definitely recommend and won’t be long until we return.

Positiv The facilities were very clean and had everything we needed. The location of the site is beautiful, just on the doorstep of the Lakes and the Dales. Kirby Lonsdale is a short drive away where you can enjoy a lovely river walk.
The site was quiet. Perfect for a weekend getaway.

Sehenswürdigkeiten in der Nähe

Start off by exploring the lovely Lunesdale area. Park up in Kirkby Lonsdale (five minutes' drive) for strolls around the town centre, crossing the graceful medieval arches of the Devil's Bridge and wandering or cycling along the riverbank. It's a short distance from here to Ruskin's View, described by the famous art critic in 1875 as 'one of the loveliest views in England', where you can take in suitably splendid panoramas over the Lune Valley. Next, a 10-minute drive to the south, you could visit the pretty village of Ingleton, where mountains, caves and waterfalls await. Alternatively, head further into Yorkshire for Dales day trips to Skipton (45 minutes) and its well-preserved castle, Settle (20 minutes) with its cliffs and caves or Hawes (35 minutes), home to cheese tastings at Wensleydale Creamery. To the north, you also have the Lake District National Park within reach. The handsome town of Kendal (25 minutes) has lots of historic sights to see, including a castle, museum and pleasant river walk, while the gorgeous shores of Windermere are just over half an hour away by road for boat trips, watersports and waterside wanders.
