The Barn Campsite

Positiv From the moment my friends and I arrived at the campsite we felt welcome.
Jonnty, the owner, couldn't be more friendly, helpful & accommodating.
You can tell he takes pride in what he does and is a genuine people person.
He was always floating around the site to make sure all campers were happy & comfortable and was always on hand to give advice on local things to do & directions on how to get there.
Facilities were top notch - clean and all in working order.
Even on a busy weekend, toilets were all fully stocked so you never had to worry about running out of toilet roll.
Location is absolutely great and a perfect base for walks, lake days etc.
Luckily, we stayed during a heatwave so the weather was on our side but the covered area in case of bad weather is a really nice touch.
Overall, couldn't be happier with our holiday and will 100% be visiting again!

Negativ The only negative thing I'd have to say is that we ended up near a group of 25 who played music loudly past 10pm and even whipped out an acoustic guitar and played that until around midnight. Yes, we could have said something but there was 4 of us and 25 of them and you just never know how an encounter like that will go down and they could have made our stay a lot worse if they decided to.
I think it was just unfortunate timing.
However, the rules clearly state no noise past 10pm so I do feel like this could have maybe been policed a bit better as my group & I (and I'm sure a lot of others!) booked onto this site for peace & quiet due to it being classed as a quiet site.

Positiv Lovely little site with great access to toilets and showers as well as a little area if it rains or you want a break from the field pitch. Gorgeous views and very close to a local pub and shop. Well maintained campsite. Owner was lovely and had good ground rules which ensured the site was a pleasurable stay.

Positiv Warm welcome. Johnty, the campsite owner, is on hand to ensure everyone is happy and has what they need. A lovely, ever-changing campsite community. Very special.
There’s a friendly local pub half a mile down the road which serves good beer and excellent pub grub.

Positiv Clean toilets, clean, free hot showers.
Free loan of fire pits.
Flexible pitch allocation meant that groups were able to be together.
The site was very closely managed and the late night noise restriction was enforced.

Hot showers with pegs and baskets for all your stuff
Never ran out of toilet roll, hand towel, soap over a busy weekend
Can walk to Bower House in less than 10 mins.

Positiv Nice big campsite, great location and quiet. Free fire pits and affordable fire pit bags. Host was friendly

Negativ Would have liked hot water for washing up and also after using the toilet, as only cold water is available. Would have liked physical doors on the showers rather than curtains.

Positiv Friendly, easy going, great location, good (basic but perfectly adequate) facilities and excellent showers.
Ground is pretty flat and well maintained
Fire pits and wood available on site
Communications were good (we had to delay a day and this was easy)

Positiv Jontty was an amazing host. Amazing location and tidy field. Amenities exactly what's needed - toilets and shower blocks clean with hot water and a large wash up area. A hidden gem. Absolutely will be coming again (family of 6, kids 6-17 plus 2 dogs) everyone loved it.
