The Barn Campsite

Positiv Jonnty was an amazing host, he was extremely helpful and went above and beyond, even offering an alternative date as the weather forecast wasn’t looking good. We decided to stick with the plan anyway and had a great time despite the wet weather. The field has good solid ground so didn’t become waterlogged meaning we kept dry. We made sure to utilise the very handy sheltered drying rack for wet clothes.

The location is beautiful and peaceful, away from the hustle and bustle of the more touristy areas of the Lakes.

Facilities are great with a good number of toilets and a shower, you can tell they have been thoughtfully constructed with automatic lights etc.

10/10 would recommend this excellent value campsite.

Positiv Great location to go hiking around Scarfell pike. The Field is flat and the owner supplies fire pits to have your own campfire.

There's a great pub just 10 min walk down the road that does fantastic food and good pints. The Owner can give you fresh eggs (for a small cost) from his chickens for breakfast in the morning.

Owner is cracking guy and very chilled will deffo be stopping over again.

Toilets and showers are basic and clean, Cant complain as some campsites don't offer anything. There is a place to wash your dishes and sit if the weather is bad.

Positiv Everything. The place was great, the host was great. Really lovely guy. Location is really good for getting to a nice pub with good food. Petrol station isn't too far away. Honestly was a great find!

Positiv beautiful location, all facilities that were required were present, very welcoming and respectful hosting with extra chairs being offered for us to use free of charge, fire pits available with fire wood available for purchase

Positiv We had an amazing long weekend stay here. The campsite has all the facilities that one needs - hot showers, clean toilets, pot washing area, fire pits, and a common area in case it rains. The owner is super friendly and attentive to anything you may need. The site is conveniently close to Scafell pike and Wast Water.

Positiv Loads of space, toilets and shower facilities are perfect. And free wi-fi is always useful!

Its the perfect campsite for people wanting to do scafel pike, we stayed for a weekend.

Coop only 15 min drive away and the host is so helpful and knowledgeable on the area to make our stay as easy and as stress free.

Positiv A cracking site with great quality, well drained ground, handy for driving in pegs. We walked from the site over Muncaster fell to Ravenglass and hopped on the steam train to come back. The box for charging devices was a nice touch.

Negativ Most of the pictures shown are of how the site looked a couple of years back. It's now half the size. A number of sizable groups rolled in at the weekend and put an end to the calm due to the close proximity. I'd definitely go again but opt for a midweek visit instead.
