Old Man of Coniston Campsite

Positiv Location and cost. A really peaceful location with breathtaking views. Minimal facilities (portaloos) but you don’t need much more for a night or two. Jordan comes and checks if you need anything. We went in the week at the start of summer holidays and it wasn’t busy.

Positiv Stunning views all around the site of Lake Coniston, The Old Man of Coniston and surrounding hills. You will struggle to find a site with better views. Plenty of portaloos & owner was really nice and personable. Really reasonable at £20.

Negativ The road up to the site is steep and although there are passing places, they are very tight with vans.

Positiv Spacious campsite, brilliant views! All porta loos had air freshener, ample loo roll and hand sanitiser - no chance of running out which is good.
I like how the gate was locked at all times adding security to the site.
It’s at the end of a very long single track lane, so no traffic noise overnight.

Negativ Most of the field is sloped, but this is a minor thing, I still slept really well.

Positiv Location is perfect, basic needs, portaloo with air freshener and toilet roll. Perfect location to start Old Man of Coniston, or any other walks around the area.

Positiv Amazing location and views, lots of walks nearby and very well maintained area. Will definitely be coming here more often!

Negativ Not a dislike, but it can be difficult to find as the postcode took me somewhere different. I’d advise getting the camp coordinates from the location on maps to avoid wrong turns and getting lost!

Positiv It was very easy process to turn up, simply entering through a gate.
Everything as described, perfect site for a few nights!

Negativ None really, was everything you would want in a budget campsite.
Showers would be nice though

Negativ Where do I start! This site states a few stretched truths 1 no music after 10 definitely not the case it’s a bit of a free for all and almost all campers where large groups drinking all day with music pumping till early hours, 2 20 min stroll to a pub well it is up a very very large steep hill that took me 3 attempts to actually get up so once I was up there I was a bit stranded until the day we left as no way would I attempt that hill again and walking up the hill is an extreme challenge and I’m fit and able bodied a VW camper got up the hill after us and as I held the field gate open for them the clutch burning smell was unreal so be cautious
