After a bracing walk along the esplanade at Cromer (25 minutes’ drive), head to the pier, where the Pavilion Theatre has a lively programme of tribute acts and stand-up comedy. In town, the Cromer Museum displays fossils and early 20th-century photographs of local fishermen. The ever-growing grey seal colony at Horsey Gap (half an hour) is a sight to behold – it is believed that as many as 3,000 seal pups are born along this stretch of coast every year. Make your way to the viewing platform on top of the dunes to spy on the seals as they rest on the sand or head into the sea to look for a fishy snack… A 17th-century country house, National Trust - Felbrigg Hall, Gardens & Estate (half an hour) includes elegant spaces such as the Cabinet Room, with art objects collected by owner William Windham during his Grand Tour, plus views over the expansive gardens.
