Gather round, friends and family campers looking for a little bit extra – how about holidaying in spacious and well-equipped yurts? At Spire View Yurts near Chesterfield in Derbyshire, groups are welcome, so you can camp and catch up together in secluded privacy. Arriving on site is a cinch as everything’s ready for you – you'll be moving into a stylish yurt with proper beds (bedding provided) plus storage space and all the utensils you need for the outdoor life. Each yurt has its own bathroom a few seconds’ walk away, and close by is a communal kitchen with a Nespresso machine, fridge freezer and large oven for cooking Sunday dinner en famille or baking cakes with the kids on a rainy day. Patio doors lead to a balcony with seating and views over Derbyshire countryside. When it’s sunny, you can make good use of the wood-fired pizza oven (extra charge for the wood) and buy homemade dough and tomato sauce to take the hassle out of cooking. Other delectable treats available to guests include afternoon teas and boxes of s’mores for the kids to grill over the firepit – please order before you arrive. Each yurt is provided with a crate of wood and a fire-starting pack, and if you run out, more can be bought on site.

Positiv We were greeted by Jayne the hostess when we arrived. Jayne was very friendly and helpful. Jayne explained the rules and asked if we had any questions, and was very happy for further questions if we had any. When we entered the yurt , we had a complimentary bottle of prosecco, and a tray of homemade cakes waiting for us.
The yurt was exceptional quality throughout. All the personal touches made our stay. The hot tub was already for us, and at the right temperature. The communal kitchen was extremely clean, looked brand new. The kitchen had everything that you could wish for. The site was a part of a working farm, but you wouldn't have known it . The site was very peaceful. Highly recommend. We can't wait to get back there. Awesome.

Positiv Everything was spotless. Nothing was too much trouble for Jayne. It was an amazing stay. The yurt was Fantastic. Beautiful cup cakes and wine on arrival. Everything has been thought of down to the very last detail. I cannot wait to return to spire view yurts.

Chatsworth House (20 minutes’ drive) may well be your first stop for tours of its lavish apartments, riverside walks across the estate and animal encounters in the farmyard. Other contenders for your attention include Haddon Hall for its musical events and guided tours (summer only), the Elizabethan beauty that is Hardwick Hall and walks around the ramparts at Bolsover Castle (all 25 minutes). To give the kids a treat after all that culture and history, head straight for the water rides and rollercoasters at Alton Towers (55 minutes), or jump on the cable car up the Heights of Abraham (20 minutes) to visit the caves. Kids still not exhausted? Another day out among the pirate ships and dinosaur walks at Gulliver’s Kingdom (20 minutes) should do the trick. Rather explore on two feet or by bike? Spire View Yurts is on the edge of the Peak District National Park (15 minutes), where you can walk and cycle to your heart’s content. Yomp up Creswell Crags (40 minutes), have a mooch around Bakewell (20 minutes) or stroll through the limestone gorge at Dovedale (45 minutes).
