Ski UK for great snow this winter says Pitchup.com

Pro 17 2014 Přidáno uživatelem Samantha Marsh

With little or no snowfall in the European resorts and unclear forecasts for the future, experts* are saying that there is more snow in Scotland, predicting a busy year for the British winter sports industry.

Dan Yates, founder of outdoor accommodation specialist, Pitchup.com agrees: “The British winter holidays market is growing and offers an affordable option for those seeking snow and winter sports.  Scotland in particular has a number of lodges, pods, wigwams and touring choices close to the main resorts with prices starting at less than £20 per night.  The Lake District also offers a viable choice with a ski area that has seen good snowfall in recent years.”

Why not get those skis and snowboards out and book a bargain break in the UK this winter with Pitchup.com?

Scottish skiing!

There has already been some snowfall on the highest Scottish peaks so is this winter set to be a bumper one for skiing at home? All of Scotland’s resorts have at least one or two slopes and lifts open already.

Linnhe Lochside Holidays at Fort William is just 16 minutes by car from the Nevis Ranges.  The site offers an excellent choice of different types of accommodation including some beautiful chalets.  Each comes with loch views, open plan living areas, kitchens, bathrooms and small balcony.  Chalets sleep between four and six people with sizes ranging from two bedroom to three bedroom. They cost from £240 for a three night stay.

If Glenshee is your preferred ski area then Drumshademuir Caravan Park is the perfect choice.  It’s less than an hour to the slopes and offers affordable accommodation in its pods.  With camping pods from just £36 per night, guests can afford to spend more on lift passes and ski equipment.  There is a tavern on site offering up food and drink for hungry customers or there is a small kitchen in the pod for preparing meals and hot drinks.

Also in Scotland is Camping Pod Heaven at Inverness.  Located a few miles north of the Cairngorm National Park and Aviemore, the site is perfect for those who want to combine both sightseeing, city life and snowsports.  The Cairngorms is one of Scotland’s most famous ski areas offering an excellent range of intermediate runs. There are currently nine runs open for use with the region stating a good quality of snow.  Accommodation at Camping Pod Heaven is offered in heated pods which can sleep up to four people.  The pods cost just £42 per night.

Lakes views as you ski

The Helvellyn range is as well known for its skiing as it is for its challenging routes to the top.  The resort has already been open for skiing this winter and with snow in the weekend forecast there is likely to be some pre-Christmas opportunities to enjoy some fun on the slopes.  Located at the top end of Ullswater, just a few miles from the ski area is The Quiet Site.  This delightful site offers the highest quality facilities along with all-season accommodation in the shape of heated pods.  The pods can sleep up to two adults and two children and feature heating, lighting and carpeted floors.  Visitors will need to bring all other equipment. Pods cost from £35 per night and there is plenty of winter availability.
