Booking a stay halfway between Bath and Bristol, and with easy access from the A4, is an excellent idea – it means you’ll be able to make trips to both of these vibrant (but very different) cities, and also try out a whole lot of fabulous attractions and activities in the Somerset countryside. Occupying this attractive location is Avon Valley Farm Certified Location, a small touring site for CAMC members only. The handful of pitches here are part of an arable farm – it’s a working farm, but generally fairly peaceful and calm (although there can be some noise from the nearby Bristol-to-Bath railway line sometimes). The pitch area of the site is pleasingly flat and populated with plenty of hedges and trees for privacy and shade. It’s a scenic place, too, with views towards Kelston Roundhill and the River Avon, and several paths leading from the farm down to the river, to the village of Saltford or to the Bristol-Bath cycle path. It's also easy to stroll to the nearby farm shop (just under a mile away), which serves great breakfasts and sells a good range of local produce, including local meat. Back at base, you’ll be staying on a serviced pitch with access to toilets, chemical disposal point and waste facilities. Dogs and kids are welcome – and the latter will probably be delighted to find that they're staying next door to the Avon Valley Adventure and Wildlife Park, which is open through school holidays and for some special events (such as the October pumpkin patch and Bonfire Night fireworks display).

Em va agradar Location, location, location. Band in between Bristol and Bath. Brilliant! EHU and water access good.

No em va agradar Site felt a little tired, and has so much potential. Toilets could do with a spruce up. And just general maintenance of the grass/hard standing.

Ideal for the adventure park just down the road or as a half way mark if heading for devon/ cornwall.

Em va agradar Good location for a base between bristol and bath. Walks to both amd surrounding areas immediately from camp site so no need to drive.

No em va agradar less quiet than last time we stayed as proximity of the new static with a family in is very close.

Em va agradar Because it was so small, the water tap was no distance away. Nice to have full electricity. The big tree provided shade in the morning, which meant we didn't cook while we slept in! No 'interference' from site owners. All very relaxed. Toilets are nice. We spread ourselves out a bit, what with awning and bicycles and sunbeds and it was good to be able to do so. This is not your usual 'manicured' and sprawling club site, which you may or may not like. Morrisons garage is just up on the main road if you run out of anything. There's a Greggs inside as well, so hot croissants and coffee if you're lazy or disorganised! We had a very happy week and having the Bristol to Bath cycle way so close and the kayaking only 5 mins down the lane was fab.

No em va agradar Rail track literally on the other side of a row of trees and GWR trains whizzing by. Got used to it though. Sometimes farmworkers appeared almost outside our window on the other side of the fence. Really could have done with an onsite shower as ours broke towards the end of our week's stay! One evening, farm vehicle noises went on until 10 pm, lots of clanking and crashing.

Em va agradar Hook up worked, got running water.

No em va agradar Toilets dirty, pitches overrun with high weeds and nettles. Water tap totally surrounded by nettles a foot high. The field and surroundings generally very delapidated.

Del gerent: It's a shame you think our lovely farm looks dilapidated. Much of rural England is a little brown and scorched this summer but we work hard to keep our farm running and the CL site is a big part of that. If you ever wanted to stay again we would be very welcoming.

You won't need to travel far to get started on the outings and activities – it’s only a few minutes' walk to the Avon Valley Adventure and Wildlife Park, to meet farm animals, walk among (animatronic) dinosaurs and enjoy the play areas and rides. If that's not your style, you can instead stroll to Active Outdoors for paddleboarding, archery and axe throwing, among other activities. Further chances to exercise your competitive streak are close by at Stockwood Vale Golf Club or Congo Falls Adventure Golf (both 10 minutes’ drive). If you’d rather take in the scenery, there are plenty of paths around for walks and bike rides, and Avon Riverside station is 10 minutes’ drive away for heritage rides on the Avon Valley Railway. Although the rural offerings are great, so are the nearby cities. Both Bristol and Bath are easy to get to by bus or train – choose Bristol for the SS Great Britain, M Shed, Bristol Aquarium and We The Curious, or head to Bath for a historic stroll around the Royal Crescent, Bath Abbey and Roman Baths.
