  • Small CAMC members-only site halfway between Bristol and Bath
  • Next door to Avon Valley Adventure and Wildlife Park
  • Dogs and kids welcome; farm shop less than a mile away on foot
Booking a stay halfway between Bath and Bristol, and with easy access from the A4, is an excellent idea – it means you’ll be able to make trips to both of these vibrant (but very different) cities, and also try out a whole lot of fabulous attractions and activities in the Somerset countryside. Occupying this attractive location is Avon Valley Farm Certified Location, a small touring site for CAMC members only. The handful of pitches here are part of an arable farm – it’s a working farm, but generally fairly peaceful and calm (although there can be some noise from the nearby Bristol-to-Bath railway line sometimes). The pitch area of the site is pleasingly flat and populated with plenty of hedges and trees for privacy and shade. It’s a scenic place, too, with views towards Kelston Roundhill and the River Avon, and several paths leading from the farm down to the river, to the village of Saltford or to the Bristol-Bath cycle path. It's also easy to stroll to the nearby farm shop (just under a mile away), which serves great breakfasts and sells a good range of local produce, including local meat. Back at base, you’ll be staying on a serviced pitch with access to toilets, chemical disposal point and waste facilities. Dogs and kids are welcome – and the latter will probably be delighted to find that they're staying next door to the Avon Valley Adventure and Wildlife Park, which is open through school holidays and for some special events (such as the October pumpkin patch and Bonfire Night fireworks display).

What customers say

A straightforward campsite near Bath and Bristol, with handy bus routes. Pitches are usually level, roomy, with water and power hook-ups. Washrooms are frequently a letdown – basic, not spotless, and need work. Expect train noise. Some found it quiet, others mentioned event or bird scarer noise.

Liked Hook up worked, got running water.

Disliked Toilets dirty, pitches overrun with high weeds and nettles. Water tap totally surrounded by nettles a foot high. The field and surroundings generally very delapidated.

Liked Great location with great walks/dog walks just outside the gate taking you through the farm land and then next to the river was lovely. Small site and owner was lovely. Would I stay again yes

Disliked For us there was a fue things letting it down fue can be fixed others not. First the train line runs 24/7 a stone throw away behind the trees so it had its noise. The 1 really annoying thing was a bird scare going off in the day sounding like shots then starting the dogs off. 1 last thing thought it was a serviced pitch but 3 had to share a water point.

Enjoyed watching the lambs in the next field..
Everything you need for a budget weekend away..

Disliked Train noise quite regular from adjacent line.
Soon got used to it though..

Liked Not a lot.

Disliked NO Staff. NO hot water. Grubby towels in toilets. Untidy entrance to toilets. Broken fences. Unsanitary water hose...it was totally shredded. Fallen conifer branches behind our pitch, together with 'empty?' gas canister and other debris.

From the manager: Gosh what a shame! I was always in touch via phone as you’ll recall. We don’t advertise the site as staffed and we don’t advertise hot water. A pity you won’t stay again and you didn’t like the location… we wish you a wonderful summer. With very many thanks for staying with us.

Local attractions

You won't need to travel far to get started on the outings and activities – it’s only a few minutes' walk to the Avon Valley Adventure and Wildlife Park, to meet farm animals, walk among (animatronic) dinosaurs and enjoy the play areas and rides. If that's not your style, you can instead stroll to Active Outdoors for paddleboarding, archery and axe throwing, among other activities. Further chances to exercise your competitive streak are close by at Stockwood Vale Golf Club or Congo Falls Adventure Golf (both 10 minutes’ drive). If you’d rather take in the scenery, there are plenty of paths around for walks and bike rides, and Avon Riverside station is 10 minutes’ drive away for heritage rides on the Avon Valley Railway. Although the rural offerings are great, so are the nearby cities. Both Bristol and Bath are easy to get to by bus or train – choose Bristol for the SS Great Britain, M Shed, Bristol Aquarium and We The Curious, or head to Bath for a historic stroll around the Royal Crescent, Bath Abbey and Roman Baths.
