Thorn Campsite is a secluded spot in Devon countryside, near Jurassic Coast beaches and seaside resorts – and here’s the thing – it comes with its very own golf course. Yes, golfers pack your clubs and come to enjoy a few rounds on a nine-hole rural course. The flat and neatly manicured camping field has electric hook-ups, loos, a washing-up area and showers, and it’s just a short stroll from the golf course. The clubhouse cleverly doubles as a snack bar with additional loos and showers for site guests, and there’s a wifi connection if you need to keep friends informed of your golfing successes. But it’s not just about the golfing. Families, couples and dogs are also welcome at Thorn, as there’s plenty hereabouts to keep everyone entertained. Take the kids rummaging for fossils along the Jurassic Coast (10 minutes’ drive), and if they have behaved really, really well, the best treat ever is feeding time at The Donkey Sanctuary (five minutes). You can choose from an abundance of lovely beaches along the coastline (Salcombe Regis and Seaton to name just two – both less than 15 minutes’ drive), and the South West Coast Path (10 minutes) reveals swathes of rugged headlands for long-distance hikers. Sidmouth supermarkets will keep you fed and watered, and if you want a night off from cooking, there are traditional pubs in Branscombe (10 minutes) and a whole host of restaurants in Budleigh Salterton (25 minutes).

Em va agradar Chap was helpful and the immediate surrounding by our pitch were ok.

No em va agradar Not a very good appearance on arrival.
A pile of bricks and scrapped cars. Once pitched up all was fine and nice surroundings. Been asked for more money once got home as it seems electric was extra and we hadn’t been made aware of this.

Em va agradar Had a great stay at Thorn Golf Centre, where we camped for two nights. The price was very reasonable, and the site was lovely and quiet, which made for a really relaxing stay. The owner was extremely friendly, accommodating and went out of his way to make sure we were happy and comfortable.

Really appreciated the welcoming atmosphere and how easy-going everything was. We’d definitely stay again and would happily recommend Thorn Golf Centre to anyone looking for a peaceful and reasonably priced place to camp. 👍

Em va agradar Quiet campsite surrounding a golf course. Spacious pitches, electric hookup, walking distance to Donkey Sanctuary and main road for bus service. Great place for star gazing as very dark.

No em va agradar Facilities a bit dated but perfectly adequate for the duration of our stay. Signage for entrance not great, we actually drove past and second time around still weren't sure we were in the right place.

Em va agradar Excellent value for money. Cheapest round of golf we've ever played, its a great golf course for kids and beginners. A relaxed countryside feel with beautiful walks. Nice driving range and crazy golf too. Malcom was very accommodating and welcoming. Will definitely be passing through again.

Em va agradar We had a great stay here! We were a little unsure when we realised we were actually camping on part of the golf course...but Malcolm was absolutely lovely and advised us of the best spot to suit us for the week - and he wasn't wrong. We had a really sheltered, quiet spot, not too far from the water tap or the toilet block.
It was fun watching the golfers play past and we even had a go ourselves. The driving range, crazy golf and the course itself were great!
The toilets are clean, the showers are hot, can't fault them at all. The washing up stations are spacious and clean too.
Such a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. Anything we needed, we felt we could nip in to reception and just ask, everyone was very friendly.
