Setting forth for the Lake District to seek out some scenic views? Settle in to Seatoller Farm and you can start on the scenery-seeing without so much as moving from the site. At this family-run working hill farm in Cumbria, the views are stunning whichever way you turn, taking in vistas of the Borrowdale valley and the River Derwent. At this back to basics site, there’s no wifi or phone signal (except Vodafone in Seatoller itself), so switch off and embrace the wild feel. When you roll up, there’s no reception, so pick out a pitch. Owner Daniel comes around in the morning and evening to check on guests, but they’re not always in the house. Every Friday night (between 6pm and 8pm), stone-baked pizzas are sold on the farm. Take it back to your tent or tuck in inside the seating barn. Tasty toppings include the site’s own pork and Herdwick lamb. Also up for grabs at the farm (or from Dan on his rounds) are rare breed pork sausages, Herdwick lamb and mint burgers or logs and kindling. A nifty central location in the Lake District National Park means this site is well placed for lots of walks, including scrambling up Scafell, ticking off the Wainwright fells or a leisurely riverside ramble. Protected woodland runs along one side of the farm, with wildlife like bats, buzzards, woodpeckers and owls among the site’s frequent visitors. The low-key facilities preserve the relaxed rural vibe – separate gents’ and ladies toilets are close to the pitches, as are washing-up facilities and drinking water taps; showers are a short walk away at the main farm building. Campfires and barbecues are allowed here, but only if they're kept off the grass (you'll immediately be asked to put out any fires that burn the grass). There are a couple of pubs about a mile away for food and drinks, and a hotel five minutes' walk away for drinks on the terrace. The campsite has excellent access to the local bus service that runs regularly from the farm during the season.

Aquest càmping és un retir tranquil i natural amb vistes a muntanyes i rius, ideal per a excursionistes. Les instal·lacions són netes i ben cuidades. La pizza de dissabte al vespre és un punt fort popular. Encara que la distància a les dutxes pot ser incòmoda, molts valoren l'experiència tranquil·la "off-grid". Les parcel·les per a autocaravanes poden ser irregulars, amb problemes de fang quan plou.

Em va agradar Stunning location, breathe taking views. Clean toilets and showers. Met Daniel the first time we stayed, but not the second,but know he is about because place is always clean and tidy.

No em va agradar The weather, but you can't have everything 😂. We have been twice in the last month but not managed to catch the shop open yet.

Em va agradar Small, intimate, and perfect for camper vans. The showers are excellent and just a 10 minute walk down the road. Super access to a number of excellent hikes and pubs nearby, all within walking distance from the campground.

Em va agradar Easy to find

No em va agradar The showers are not on site, you have to walk along a road to them. Not great on a rainy day, or in our case with a child.
Photos are a bit off, you are not in a big open field with amazing views. You can’t see the views as you are surrounded by trees. Keep aware that it’s also very muddy and damp as you are by a stream.
Hot water was cold and the washing up station.
Expensive for what you get. And again not what the photos show.
It was not Terrible but was not as good as it looks.

Close to the pub and decent 4g signal for phone data.
Lovely campsite, very scenic.

No em va agradar Didn’t mind the walk over the road to the showers….once i’d found them lol
But yes, first time finding them was very tricky, better signage would help, also saw one other lost soul having the saw problem as i was leaving lol

Em va agradar Beautiful location , very quiet and was almost like wild camping but with a toilet block 😁 would highly recommend.
Outside but undercover area for washing up is very useful 👍 and has hot water 😱

The herdwicks grazing round the site were a nice touch and relaxing to watch.

No em va agradar Nothing, I used the site on a rainy day in the second half of September so there was not many other campers 👌
I can imagine in summer it is a lot busier.

Em va agradar Location was amazing. I liked that basic amenities were available, including showers (with lots of space in them), ice pack freezer, hairdryer, as well as washing up facilities and loos next to the camping area. I didn't mind the short walk to the showers.

No em va agradar I found the lack of somewhere to charge a phone and power pack and to dry soggy boots frustrating (the paths had turned into streams because of rain and no amount of Gortex could hold that amount of water off). The campsite really is amazing and I'd definitely go again (with spare boots) but these are just a couple of things that would improve it.

Dust off those hiking boots, for Seatoller’s surrounds are stacked with walking trails to suit all comers, from those seeking a gentle stroll through woodland and across heather-strewn fells to those in search of more vertical challenges. The beginning of a couple of the national park’s top climbs are easy to get to too – Great Gable (an hour and a half) and mighty Scafell (a couple of hours). Roam a little further afield for hikes on Catbells (15 minutes’ drive), around the Castlerigg stone circle (25 minutes) or on the slopes of Helvellyn (half an hour away, and a fine choice for mountain bikers too). If you’d like to have a crack at climbing in a controlled environment, try the via ferrata route at Honister Slate Mine, five minutes away, and worth a stop for an underground mine tour even if you’re not up to clinging on to crags. All sound a little tiring? Less demanding days out include the Lake District Wildlife Park (half an hour) and the sculpture trail at Rydal Hall Gardens (40 minutes). It’s worth knocking around Keswick for a bit too, visiting the eccentric Puzzling Place exhibition and Derwent Pencil Museum or taking tipples at the town’s brewery. Alpaca trekking at Lingholm Estate and Whinlatter Forest are some other splendid days out.
