Elegant, Georgian-era Lilling Hall Farm is in a rural setting surrounded by peaceful North Yorkshire countryside. With just a few pitches on its paddock, this adults-only spot makes a convenient base for nature lovers, walkers and cyclists who like to mix up their holidays with a dollop of history and culture. The level grass camping field has mature trees for shelter, and there are a couple of seating areas in secluded corners of the garden where you can relax on sunny days. The friendly site owners are happy to dole out teas and coffees (and the occasional seasonal fruit or free-range egg) on your arrival, and chat about what you might do during your stay. You may get to watch horses being schooled during your stay (please note, due to the horses, no dogs are allowed on the site) – and thanks to the lack of light pollution in these parts, when clear, the night sky is awash with stars. Thornton-le-Clay village (10 minutes’ walk) has a couple of pubs, and there are many more to be discovered in surrounding villages, where you can rest up after a day’s adventure and enjoy good grub along with Yorkshire bitter. This is a back-to-basics site, albeit one in lovely surroundings, so please be aware that facilities are simple – including toilets, showers, chemical waste disposal and a wifi connection; there is no hot water outside

Em va agradar Great welcome from Lynne and Gary. Lovely people. Proper shower and toilet room, kept immaculately clean.
If you like horses, Lilling Hall farm is for you.
Excellent site for visiting Castle Howard and York (do the Park & Ride, so much easier). If you love a quirky local that serves £3 pints (really), the Thompsons Arms is a 10 minute walk away.

Em va agradar Owners and family were extremely welcoming and friendly and site is on a basic field to be close to nature
We had the place to ourselves with a lovely bathroom
Stars at night were phenomenal
Take cash for payment ( i missed that bit on email but luckily had enough between us)
Didn't have wifi but didn't bother us as was nice to be unconnected

Em va agradar The peace and quiet listening to the different birds chirping. The hospitality from hosts Lynn and Gary was amazing. Lynn asked if we wanted anything from Supermarket whilst she was going out. Nothing was too much trouble for them. A bonus watching the horses in their paddocks.
Clean hand towels in toilet/shower room. Lovely spacious clean shower. A fridge stocked with water or cans of non alcoholic drinks available aswell as ice to take for drinks.

Em va agradar Lovely little over night stay for our first experience of van camping with great location, peacefull scenic surroundings and lovely owners. Definitely a great start to our van adventures and would highly recommend lilling hall farm

Em va agradar What a lovely place. A small paddock surrounded by fields. 2 beautiful stallions in the stables.
Very peaceful.
Shower room is as good as a hotel bathroom, and spotlessly clean.
Owners leave bottled water and ice in the freezer for campers to help themselves to.
Owners Lynn and Gary are just the friendliest, most helpful people. We joked that if we'd asked Gary to wash our car he definitely would. They were so lovely and a joy to meet.

Em va agradar We loved staying at Lilling Hall Farm. The Horses are beautiful, we enjoyed meeting them and watching them in the fields. The hosts Gary & Lynne spent loads of time showing us around and telling us all about them. Sooty the dog kept us entertained, she was so funny. The site is very well equipped with everything you need for a great camping experience. The shower room is spotless. It was so peaceful in the camping field which was enhanced by the grand Copper Beech trees.. We will definitely go back.. thank you to everyone for making our stay memorable….

If you’re keen to get into those hiking boots, Strensall Common (five minutes’ drive) has easy walks across heathland, while the North Yorkshire Moors National Park (10 minutes) has a whole host of hiking and cycling opportunities through gorgeous villages, as well as more strenuous routes across scenic moorland. All this wild countryside and yet such easy access to the historic city of York (20 minutes), with walks around its Roman walls, the vast minster to have a look around and indie shops to browse in narrow cobbled streets. Romantic Castle Howard (10 minutes) and its Capability Brown landscapes have plenty to keep you occupied, from rope courses to fascinating tours of the art treasure in the stately main house. You can also pick up the A64 at Flaxton Moor (five minutes) for day trips to legendary east-coast seaside resorts of Scarborough (55 minutes) and Bridlington (an hour), or pick up the North Yorkshire Moors Railway at Pickering (half an hour) and steam your way to Whitby (an hour) across the moors. Closer to home, fishing and golfing options are less than 15 minutes away by car.
