Grownups! If you seek serenity, scenery and nature-spotting on holiday, this is the Shropshire site for you. Adjacent to the mere of Colemere and set on the lake's south side, adults-only Colemere Caravan Park is in a countryside setting on five acres of wildlife-laden land with peaceful walks all around – and a quarter of a mile from Wood Lane nature reserve, which the expert folk at the BBC describe as one of the best birdwatching sites in Shropshire. Owners Dave and Ingrid have put a lot of thought into ensuring that guests are kept comfy at this peaceful and popular little site: as well as a good range of accommodation options, guests have access to a fully-equipped and cute social area, all hand-built and including a kitchen with fridge, kettle, utensils, pots and microwave. Firepits are available on request and guests can bring their own barbecues. And for keeping toasty after that, a Nordic wood-fired hot tub overlooking the lily pond is available to hire in the afternoons and evenings for four-hour periods (couples only). Picnic tables are dotted around to place the campfire food on, and the park has well-kept separate bathrooms for ladies and gents.

Em va agradar Me, my wife and the dogs lol liked the beautiful setting that the on campsite is in, surrounded by lots of wild life, not to mention right next to colemere mere which is accessible from the site.
The owners as well as others staying there were friendly.

Cabana pod Badger

Em va agradar I absolutely love Colemere Caravan Park. I’ve stayed twice now and already know I’ll be coming back again.

The whole site is immaculate and beautifully kept, and it’s wonderfully quiet and peaceful - the perfect place to get away from everything and properly relax. The owners are so friendly and helpful, and it’s obvious how much care and hard work they put into making the site such a lovely place to stay.

The location is gorgeous too, with the mere right on the doorstep for a beautiful, peaceful walk.

I stayed in the Badger camping pod and absolutely loved it. It was spotlessly clean, cosy and comfortable, with everything I needed for a relaxing stay. It felt like my own little hideaway for a couple of days.

Colemere has very quickly become one of my favourite places to escape to. It’s a real little gem and I can’t recommend it highly enough. I’ll definitely be back! ☺️

Em va agradar Gorgeous setting, fabulous barn with really lovely touches - where campers can gather, play games, watch TV, get out of the rain and even make a cuppa. Such a lovely idea. And the thoughtfulness continued into the showers and toilets where there were lovely products and essentials for people to use. Super clean and beautifully maintained in a lovely area.

Em va agradar First time camped on an adult only site. Best experience. Campsite was well maintained clean and organised. Showers clean and hot. Loved the log cabin facility. The area was stunning. Close to the mere and Llangollen canal. Beautiful walks. Hostess very friendly and helpful

Em va agradar Yes the grounds were beautiful with ponds, seating areas
Even sunloungers and a cute cabin with WiFi, a big table and comfortable old leather sofas
The walks from the site were lovely with a big lake right on the doorstep

No em va agradar The showers were old, dirty and cramped with saloon doors which I didn't feel offered 100% privacy

You can only get WiFi from the cabin
WiFi signal is very poor
Could do with having a roof on the outdoor sink area

Thanks for your review ! We do feel that your take on the showers & toilet doors , is out of kilter with other reviews ! They are regularly leaned throughout the day. As regards to the door privacy,
we have a very well ventilated layout that doesn’t have an exit door. This means that toilet plumes (Aerosolization ) clear very quickly ! It is also a fact that exit toilet door handles ( which we don’t have ) have been proven to be contaminated with Enteric Bacteria ! Some pathogenic & some pathogenic viruses such as Rotavirus , Norovirus etc …. We just wonder iin your review if you are getting mixed up with the beneficial harmless outdoor microbes & the pathogenic microbes you tend to get in closed in high numbers environment?


Wifi provided is an additional add on but as we are based in a rural location, signal strength can vary and cannot be guaranteed throughout the site. Regarding our washing-up area we appreciate the suggestion of providing a roof and will consider this as part of future improvements .

We welcome constructive feedback but feel it is important that reviews fairly reflect the nature and facilities of the site.

There's stacks to do in the surrounding area, whether you want to stick close to home by foot or pedal, or drive a bit further afield to the towns, tourist attractions and landscapes of Shropshire, Cheshire and north-east Wales – the city of Chester is 40 minutes away and Llangollen on the River Dee reachable within an hour. On the doorstep, tackle the two-mile walk along the canal towpath to Ellesmere or make your way via the purpose-built circular walk and through a wooded area of rhododendrons around the mere and nature reserve, a Site of Special Scientific Interest with species galore to see like otters, lapwings and water birds. The reserve also has several deep fishing pools well-stocked with catfish and big carp; more fishing – and carp – can be had nearby at Blackmere along the towpath from Colmere. Also nearby, wander into Colemere village to see the fifteenth-century thatched cottages, listed in the Domesday Book, to Ellesmere for food festivals, regattas and boat rides on the mere, or drive to Rednal Karting, Paintballing and Laser for an exciting time ten minutes away. Castles including Chirk and Whittington are a doddle to drive to too. If being on the water is your thing, a narrowboat marina is a three-minute drive away from the caravan park and both Colemere and Whitemere sailing clubs are within easy reach. By car, the standard of whitewater rafting at Bala Adventure and Watersports will have you foaming at the mouth – a milder form of the sport, along with abseiling, gorge walking, a steam railway and horse-drawn boat trips is available over the border in Wales at Llangollen.
