Whether you’re hunting down the Four Waterfalls or taking the scenic drive to the base of Pen Y Fan, your break in the Brecon Beacons National Park will be off to a splendid start with a stay at Bryn Bwch. This quiet, dog-friendly site is a great base from which to go waterfall spotting, as it’s next to the Four Waterfalls and the Sgwd Yr Eira Waterfall is within walking distance too… and as you might expect from a site in the national park, there are stunning views from this place. Dogs and children are very welcome to use the site as their base, so simply set down with all the gang in the large, well-maintained field (which has some level sections and some with slight gradients or inclines) and park next to your tent. On the facilities front, there are four toilets and two showers to go around. For anyone who wants to light up their own firepit in the evening, wood can be purchased from the bungalow when you check in. Ready to take on South Wales’ biggest mountain? The car park for routes up Pen Y Fan is 20 minutes’ drive away. It’s a fair way up to the top, so to pick up any snacks for the climb, you might want to stop by in Glynneath first. A 10-minute drive away from the site, this town has shops for picking up supplies along with pubs to reward your climbing efforts. When you're looking for a pub slightly closer by, there's also one five minutes' drive away from the site.

喜欢 Spacious and low key campsite. Good location for the 4 Waterfalls Trail. Clean water available and elson point emptying available as long as you use organic chemicals.

不喜欢 Nothing really - although a dog barking for hours on our first night was a bit annoying.

喜欢 Visited mid week so not too busy. For the price it's not too bad. It's not the last word in luxury, but for the price it's fine.

不喜欢 What i didn't like was on two occasions people drove into the campsite at 10pm and unbelievably two cars turned up at midnight. They could do with locking the gate at 10pm to stop midnight callers.

喜欢 It was exactly what we needed and expected. The location is fab. Lovely owner, made us and our dogs feel really welcome from the moment we arrived. We would definitely stay again.

不喜欢 We read the reviews before booking and some of the negative points about dogs barking, cleanliness of amenities and the noise of being on a working farm, are fairly accurate. None of it bothered us but worth bearing in mind when booking.

喜欢 Location fantastic for the four falls. Very value for money . Friendly farm. Great recycling bins

喜欢 Lovely quiet, laid back site, perfectly located for the 4 waterfall walk. Loved the fact you can pick your pitch and no rules on pitch size, could use fire pits and there is flexibility on arrival and departure time.

喜欢 Beautiful views across the valley. There were 2 sets of facilities, one at either end of the site. The ones we used were basic but well maintained and clean with lovely hot showers. The site is on a fair slope but there is a flat area at the top so levelling blocks needed if you're in a van/motorhome. Decent washing up facilities with information about the area in the washing up shelter. Great location for walks, we did the Four Falls trail from the site. There's a small cafe on the way back up from the trail to the site from the south which was very welcome. It is a working farm so beware if you're not keen on farm smells and sounds, although it was generally very quiet, despite being busy on the Saturday night. The site is fairly rustic and basic on the whole which was perfect for us. You can choose your own pitch.

不喜欢 Right next to the road which had some traffic through the day but quiet at night. There were quite a lot of flies (it's a farm) so take bug repellent if this bothers you. Didn't detract from our stay, we still loved the site.

喜欢 Great location to start the 4 waterfalls walk.

不喜欢 Very basic facilities and not enough for the amount of people on site. Very noisy no real rules about music? Showers and toilets were not very clean but tidy. Also having a roof tent we found it really hard to find a place to stop that was flat enough to have a comfortable night. On a big hill!

Break into the Brecon Beacons however you please… taste the whisky from the copper-pot stills on a tour of Penderyn Distillery Visitor Centre (15 minutes' drive) perhaps? Grab a co-adventurer and strap yourselves in for a one or two-person zipwire ride from the tower of a former Colliery coal mining site at Zip World Tower (20 minutes)? Or board the Brecon Mountain Railway (40 minutes) and make your way into the mountains on the original mountain line? Mountain biking might make it onto your itinerary in these parts, as there are a couple of options within driving distance of the site. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a newbie or a pro at BikePark Wales (35 minutes), as there are lots of different forest trails. Dare Valley Country Park and Gravity Family Bike Park (35 minutes) is another good option for families, especially those who are new to the game. At this site, you’ll only be a short drive from the National Showcaves Centre for Wales (25 minutes). Here, kids are likely to love the lifesized dinosaurs and the caverns. Plus, there are lots of things to learn about the history of the dinosaurs and other cool parts of the past in the museum and Iron Age farm.
