Whether you’re hunting down the Four Waterfalls or taking the scenic drive to the base of Pen Y Fan, your break in the Brecon Beacons National Park will be off to a splendid start with a stay at Bryn Bwch. This quiet, dog-friendly site is a great base from which to go waterfall spotting, as it’s next to the Four Waterfalls and the Sgwd Yr Eira Waterfall is within walking distance too… and as you might expect from a site in the national park, there are stunning views from this place. Dogs and children are very welcome to use the site as their base, so simply set down with all the gang in the large, well-maintained field (which has some level sections and some with slight gradients or inclines) and park next to your tent. On the facilities front, there are four toilets and two showers to go around. For anyone who wants to light up their own firepit in the evening, wood can be purchased from the bungalow when you check in. Ready to take on South Wales’ biggest mountain? The car park for routes up Pen Y Fan is 20 minutes’ drive away. It’s a fair way up to the top, so to pick up any snacks for the climb, you might want to stop by in Glynneath first. A 10-minute drive away from the site, this town has shops for picking up supplies along with pubs to reward your climbing efforts. When you're looking for a pub slightly closer by, there's also one five minutes' drive away from the site.

喜欢 - stunning surroundings
- dog friendly
- space and freedom to choose parkup spot
- very clean main facilities (next to the bungalow / farm)
- excellent dish washing space and bins

不喜欢 DofE grouped on a Sunday evening on a hot weekend. The site had clearly been busy, and rubbish was being blown about by strong winds, and the toilets were unclean. Not a great first impression.

喜欢 Second time here. Easy just to pull up and pitch, plenty of space, amazing views, allowed campfires and bbqs, plenty of toilets close to some nice walks and very cheap!

不喜欢 Not a lot to be honest can’t really think of anything I didn’t like

喜欢 Fantastic location for four waterfalls hike and great that I could pitch up in the morning then go hiking

不喜欢 the showers - I used the additional showers near the owners home - the thermostat was broken in one meaning it was either boiling hot or freezing cold and the other one didn't work at all

不喜欢 No fridge/freezer. Most sites have a freezer to keep ice blocks but not here so no way to keep anything cool in this heat.

Showers - doors don't fit so there's a big gap down the side

喜欢 Absolutely spectacular scenery. You can't really ask for better. You're literally in the heart of Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons). Good washing up facilities with water provided. Lovely shower and toilet block near the cottage. The campsite was extremely busy when I stayed and did think that perhaps the amount of toilets and showers would not be enough to go round but the ones I used were very clean. I did not use the toilets/shower block on the main camp field though so can't comment on how that was.
A lot of people were quite noisy well into midnight playing music and partying, cars coming and going etc but it didn't disturb me, can't comment on what others experienced. In the morning it was very peaceful.
However even with the amount of people there was still ample room between pitches and choice of pitch which was good. I did feel safe.
Do probably need a headtorch as some parts are not lit at night.

喜欢 Great little place in the middle of knowhere with clean and convenient facilities to take you back to basics and escape the business!

不喜欢 The field is quite hilly in a lot of areas so you need to get there early to find a flatter pitch.

Break into the Brecon Beacons however you please… taste the whisky from the copper-pot stills on a tour of Penderyn Distillery Visitor Centre (15 minutes' drive) perhaps? Grab a co-adventurer and strap yourselves in for a one or two-person zipwire ride from the tower of a former Colliery coal mining site at Zip World Tower (20 minutes)? Or board the Brecon Mountain Railway (40 minutes) and make your way into the mountains on the original mountain line? Mountain biking might make it onto your itinerary in these parts, as there are a couple of options within driving distance of the site. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a newbie or a pro at BikePark Wales (35 minutes), as there are lots of different forest trails. Dare Valley Country Park and Gravity Family Bike Park (35 minutes) is another good option for families, especially those who are new to the game. At this site, you’ll only be a short drive from the National Showcaves Centre for Wales (25 minutes). Here, kids are likely to love the lifesized dinosaurs and the caverns. Plus, there are lots of things to learn about the history of the dinosaurs and other cool parts of the past in the museum and Iron Age farm.
