For spectacular scenery, there's nothing quite like a stint in the Cairngorms National Park. They do rugged and remote rather well in this part of Scotland – the area is home to a quarter of the UK's rare and endangered species, four of its five highest mountains and over 60 separate lochs. Exploring all of the above day after day is tiring work, so you'll want to find somewhere to rest up and relax after gallivanting through the Highlands. Enter Cairngorms Glamping, a low-key but scenic site in a quiet corner of Aberdeenshire. All plots here come with their own water and power supply and have an excellent outlook over the neighbouring countryside. There's plenty of space to spread out over the well-kept grounds, plus a small on-site shop where you can pick up local butcher/baker goods and locally made gifts. Cairngorms Glamping also has an animal petting corner, where friendly creatures like pygmy goats, alpacas and a donkey look forward to meeting you. Up at the top of a hill, there's also a naturally occurring pond, so dragonflies, ducks and other wildlife can be spotted too. Cairngorms Glamping is roughly a mile from the village of Strathdon, which is home to a small but well-stocked supermarket.

喜欢 Great place. Stars were so bright and intense due to the minimal light pollution. Lovely staff. My son begged to stay another night. Leanne was ace and did a lovely tour of the animals.

不喜欢 Complimentary massages and a free iPhone. Naa; it was great all round. It would be good if there was an alcohol licence and shop was open more regular, but all in all was pretty perfect.

不喜欢 the Temperatures of the showers were difficult to regulate (too hot or too cold), no electricity in the Bathrooms

喜欢 The campsite is easy to access with a motorhome, in a beautiful location with good clean facilities. There is plenty of space and equipment to keep the kids entertained. The animals were the highlight for us, we did a Critter Corner tour where we walked around the various animal pens meeting all the animals who were very friendly and greeted us for a scratch on the head. Our favourites were Jimmy the Donkey, Sully the black nose Sheep and Rosie (she was just so lovely). Leanne was super knowledgeable on all the animals and told us everyone's name and story, they are all clearly loved. We also took 3 goats out for a walk and onto the goat agility course which was great fun! We now have a new love of farm animals 😍
The site has a relaxing calm and chilled atmosphere which is just what we were after. We would definitely recommend a visit.

喜欢 Plenty of space. Level parking at the electric hook ups. Water available at each electric hook up. There have been improvements since last year with the Portaloos in the top field on hard standing and serviced by a tap so easier to keep clean plus the wash point in the top field now has a working boiler so hot water. Welcoming and helpful staff and good facilities. Some of the facilities may be considered a bit basic compared to a Camping and Caravan Club site but it has everything you need. There was excellent live entertainment in the form of a female singer on the Saturday night. I meet my daughter here as it is very close to the Lonach Highland Gathering and we actually walked to the games in 40 minutes along a quiet road.

不喜欢 I bit more expensive than the Camping and Caravan Club sites that I also stay on.

Goodbrand and Ross gift shop and restaurant is a good place to grab a bite to eat or buy a few presents for folk back at home, while the Lonach Highland Gathering and Games take place annually a couple of miles to the north. For further typically Scottish attractions, try visiting one of the many distilleries in the area; the closest is roughly 30 minutes away. The Cairngorms is also uncommonly rich in castles, including the well-preserved ruins of Kildrummy Castle (20 minutes) and gorgeous 17th-century Braemar Castle (40 minutes). Balmoral (30 minutes), the long-term summer residence of the British royal family, will also be high up on the list of those seeking impressive architecture, art and antiques. Your hosts also recommend taking the time to drive out to Landmark Forest Adventure Park (an hour), a kid-oriented spot with a climbing wall, high ropes course, maze and rollercoaster. You might also like to drive east to the Grampian Transport Museum's top collection of exhibits (35 minutes), or to carry on all the way down to the North Sea coast at Aberdeen (an hour and a quarter).
