Farm the crew out to Moonfleet Farm if you fancy a small and quiet place set in the Dorset countryside, with room for the kids to exhaust their energy among the fields and designated walking areas to let the dog off the lead. You might also rather fancy the 10-minute walk direct from the farm along the 'smugglers' footpath' to the local village shop and pub, then home to settle down in front of a roaring campfire for food and sunset vistas over the distant Blackmore Vale… Moonfleet is a working sheep farm on the western edge of the village of Higher Ansty, quiet and rural enough for a peaceful getaway, but easily accessible to main Dorset attractions and about half an hour from the Dorset coast. It has miles of local walks snaking its surroundings, and fishing ponds on site at which to land rudd, roach, barbel, crucian carp, tench and perch. Day and weekly fishing tickets can be bought from the team. The farm has modern amenitiess including a shower and toilet block with underfloor heating and hairdryers, a washing-up area, a chemical disposal point, drinking water taps and a laundry room with a free washing machine and a coin-operated tumble dryer. Showers, the hairdryers and wifi are all free.

喜欢 The farm is absolutely beautiful.
The views are incredible.
We were lucky enough to only be 1 of 3 on the site.
Linda and the team were very welcoming.
We felt lucky to be able to have fires and BBQs, a side from a few woofs from the working dogs on site it was very peaceful.
The toilets and showers were immaculate.
We can't wait to come back.

不喜欢 The only issue we found was the pitch was very hard to get a pegs in but I believe this was because we set up on a previously hard standing pitch. (This was our fault as it was dark when we arrived and didn't see the stones under the grass).

喜欢 Moonfleet is a great site, beautiful surroundings, perfect mix of relaxed "proper" camping with all the amenities you could want.

The owners were very friendly and helpful too, with their farm dogs making appearances too.

We will definitely be going back next year!

喜欢 Pleasant owners and loved the morning visit from the farm dogs. Lovely quiet location. Grass pitches with EHU. Clean facilities and nice hot showers. Dark sky area.

不喜欢 Nothing about the site. Unfortunately some very noisy campers on our last day disrupted me and my son late into the night and early hours.

喜欢 Amazing time away yet again. Such a relaxing atmosphere where the kids can have fun and enjoy themselves.
We will be back next year.
Clean campsite with everything you need. Perfect for a get away to decompress from everyday stressors.
We had a strict rule of no technology throughout the day but WiFi was amazing for an evening for family movie time.

喜欢 Absolutely lovely spot. Proper farm camping with beautiful views, 10 mins walk from the fox pub and very clean showers, and im extremely fussy on campsite showers.

Plenty of space for the kids to play, alovely big secure field for sog walking. Clive and Linda very welcoming and helpful. We will definitely stay there again.

Also a great base for so many things to do with the kids and dog in a 45 mins drive radius.

The walks around Moonfleet Farm along local lanes and through scenic Dorset countryside lead to the likes of pretty local village Milton Abbas, Milton Abbey, Athelhampton House, Cerne Abbas and sending the kids into fits of giggles when they spy mighty chalk Cerne Giant etched into the hillside. Arf. A heap of other Dorset history is a little further afield, such as that at the former Saxon cathedral of Sherborne Abbey, or at historic houses and gardens, abbeys and churches. Also go for Corfe Castle on the Isle of Purbeck and potter around the county town of Dorchester with the Dinosaur Museum, Dorchester Museum, Teddy Bear Museum, Tutankhamen Exhibition and the Roman Amphitheatre. (Have a look at the Thomas Hardy Trail and weekly market in Dorchester too.) Wareham, Swanage, Weymouth, and Salisbury are easily accessible by car and have enough to do to keep you going for several weeks; among our many recommendations are puffing along on award-wining and steamy Swanage Railway, seeing Salisbury's splendid cathedral, wandering around the RSPB reserve at Weymouth or hiking the 15 or so miles of the spectacular Purbeck Way. Fishing fan? Investigate the waters around the harbours of Poole and Weymouth.
