Escape from messy desks, busy inboxes and fume-filled commutes with a peaceful fresh-air stay among grownups only at Barley Meadow Touring Park, a dog-friendly site under five minutes’ drive from the Devon village of Crockernwell. As it's in Dartmoor National Park, this is a top spot for hikers and bikers with a yen for exploring far-off places: the 117-mile Two Moors Way (which stretches from Ivybridge to Lynmouth) passes 10 minutes’ walk from the site, and National Cycle Route 27 and the Granite Way walking trail can be joined 15 minutes’ drive away in Okehampton. Closer to home, you can stroll next door to the farm shop to select goodies for your dinner. There’s plenty more to investigate around splendid Dartmoor, but of course… but not before kicking back for a bit on site… Stock up on snacks in the on-site shop (open subject to demand) while letting canine chums run off-leash in the dog area, or plan outings and pick up ideas for local walks, activities and visits in the little information centre. All sound a bit too rural? Never fear, as the site’s central and easy to reach: it’s just off the A30, and there’s a bus stop right outside the site entrance for trips to Exeter and Bude. Eco-friendly drivers can charge their electric vehicles using the EV point on site too.

喜欢 The site was easy to find and well laid out. Good size pitch with water and hook up within easy reach. Shower and toilet facilities were immaculate and the hairdryer in the ladies was excellent. The dog walking area is a good size and was also clean with a bin and bags provided - Shadow enjoyed his walks there!
We only stayed one night to break up our journey to Cornwall but would definitely stay again if travelling this way

喜欢 Fantastic campsite. Absolutely spotless and lovely friendly staff. Nice level pitches and a cute little bothy with books and games. Really nice hot showers and bonus of having a Dyson hairdryer! So nice we’re planning to stop again on our way home.

喜欢 Such a great campsite, especially impressed with the toilets/bathroom. It was IMMACULATE and had really nice touches like a hair dryer etc. WiFi was also a really great touch! Site overall was really pretty, quiet and the owners were really kind and professional. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back!

喜欢 Lovely well-managed and beautifully maintained site for mature adults. Everything was clean, tidy, well thought out and easy. The reception was warm and welcoming and the shop in reception was well stocked. You had everything on site you could want. The toilet block incl. showers, sink, washing up sinks, etc. were modern and very clean. Great WiFi. Great location. We had a really peaceful stay. Oh - and the dog area was brilliant too! Really great for anyone with four legged friends!

喜欢 Beautifully kept site with good size pitches. Lovely quiet location with some lovely walks. Farm shop a short walk away selling steaks, sausages, eggs fresh veg etc. Nice little shop on site too. Amenities absolutely spotless with great showers. Owners super friendly and lovely to see them walk round their lovely site each day. A little paddock close by with delightful donkeys that follow you down to the farm shop! Some great National Trust attractions close by and a stunning pub, Fingle Bridge, well worth a visit

Devoting a few days to rambling explores of Dartmoor National Park is a must hereabouts, with plenty of stunningly scenic spots to include in itineraries. Start with the nearby Teign Valley and the can’t-miss Lydford Gorge (the deepest gorge in south-west England) – don’t forget a camera to snap some shots of the spectacular White Lady waterfall and the Devil’s Cauldron whirlpool. There are more ways to explore Dartmoor National Park than on foot or by bike too: adrenaline junkies can try out whitewater kayaking or canoeing along the River Dart, or head into Okehampton to sign up for scrambling through gorges. History buffs are well served around these parts too: jaunts into Exeter come with possible pitstops at the city’s famed cathedral, medieval guildhall and Tudor-built House that Moved (that one deserves a quick internet search), while rural travels lead to stately manors including Powderham Castle, Castle Drogo, Killerton House, and Buckland and Buckfast abbeys, all within an hour's drive. Poke around England’s last working water-powered forge at Finch Foundry and visit the Museum of Dartmoor Life near Okehampton, or step back into the present day with some kid-friendly fun at Crealy Adventure Park or Diggerland Devon, both around half an hour from the site.
