52-acre site in the south downs national park

Zebras, tigers and bokibokies await in these handsome Hampshire surrounds – taking the kids to see Marwell Zoo's multitude of beasts is likely to make for some very happy hols indeed. Marwell Resort is within walking distance of this much-loved menagerie and is home to plenty of adventurous action in its own right – head here if you like the sound of oodles of outdoor activities in a pretty lakeside setting. The team at Marwell Resort have been instructing for more than 25 years, so they're well qualified to help you try out sports like archery and clay pigeon shooting. (Please note that many of these activities have a minimum age restriction applied.) The site lake has a total of nine swims available for anglers (mega-sized carp can be found in its waters, including whoppers weighing up to 45 pounds). Surrounded as it is by trees, it also looks pretty fine (especially at sundown) and is a popular spot with local wildlife. Marwell Resort has strong all-round facilities, including toilets, showers and wifi. There's also an on-site bistro restaurant that serves up nourishing meals seven days a week. You can set up a barbecue and cook your own grub, too (stock up on fresh meat and veg 15 minutes' drive away at Westlands Farm Shop).

喜欢 We come every summer and the children loved the new park.

不喜欢 I couldn’t believe how much litter there was around the play park and empty alcohol packaging etc and cigarette ends everywhere.

Staff are quite rude.

The bin men were very early on the Tuesday morning and they are doing building work quite close to where the tent pitches are and can hear them swearing at each other which is off putting, we packed up and left at 8.

不喜欢 No control over other campers swearing and making noise at unsocial hours

Could be cleaner when weather is bad as so much mad and dirt walked into toilet/shower areas appeared to be only cleaned once daily.

喜欢 It's our second time staying at the Marwell Resort. We like it because of its options of activities such as archery, air rifle shooting, crazy golf etc. The little bar area and their pizzas is amazing.
The surroundings are brilliant for little walks and all in all a good place to camp.

不喜欢 This year it seems to have gone down hill unfortunately.
I found lack of cleanliness and consistently missing toilet paper and hand soap in the women's toilet blocks.
I found the toilet block by the restaurant/bar area a complete mess Saturday night (29 Aug) and there was an awful smell from there (not particular nice when you are enjoying drinks and listening to music).

喜欢 A great site that makes a genuine effort to make the stay enjoyable. We enjoyed the live music and various bits around to keep the kids entertained

不喜欢 The pitch (D) was a bit of a stretch to the toilet block to do with little ones. The nearest toilets were bar adjacent and a little dirty / blocked at times. Soap dispenser within was empty for all of stay. Washing up facilities were on far side of campsite

喜欢 This is the 4th year that we have been coming here with a group of friends with kids.

不喜欢 Toilet facilities not very clean and stocked up. Also no hand dryers working or paper towels to dry your hands the duration of our stay.

喜欢 The size of the pitches were great lots for the children and adults to do from what I saw. It was lovely to watch my two boys go off and play with other children with no fear. I found the staff helpful and polite and already looking to to back next year

不喜欢 The toilets/shower could do with being cleaned twice a day and not just in the morning. It ran out of toilet paper quickly so so take a roll with you incase!

Marwell Zoo (five minutes' drive) has over 140 different species to admire – you can also leave the car back at base and stroll over (about 20 minutes) for a pedestrian safari. Paultons Park (25 minutes' drive) is another perennial fave for family-oriented days out – here you can meet Peppa Pig, crash down log flumes or opt for wanders through a dinosaur-filled forest. The South Downs National Park has some truly splendid hiking trails, including the 100-mile-long South Downs Way (the trail starts 15 minutes down the road in Winchester). Mountain bikers also have plenty to choose from around these parts – an exhilarating bike track through the woods is on hand in the nearby village of Bishopstoke (10 minutes). The gorgeous New Forest National Park (25 minutes) is also within easy reach, and one of the best ways to get around is by open-top tour bus. There are three routes to choose from – it all comes down to whether you prefer vistas of heather-covered heathland or coastal explores. Speaking of the sea, beaches like Lepe and Highcliffe Castle (both 40 minutes) are very much worth the journey (make sure to pack jelly shoes and a towel if at all tempted).
