Pitch was great with electric and hard standing, easy to get around to major towns ect. Plenty of room around your area.

    Disliked:

Shower block in need of work, water only warm in shower sinks had no hot water, and when you wash up no hot water there eather so in winter makes things very uncomfortable. Poor lighting around site, as this was off peak no shop or bar so bring everything you need.

The peaceful surroundings and crazy golf

    Disliked:

The (non) value for money on the quad bikes. Description was 90mins on bikes. There was 5 children and only 4 bikes meaning my son had to ride alone. They took turns in twos which meant others were standing around in the cold most of the time. Not good.
The fact that the bar shut around 5pm despite being advertised as being open into the evening.
The cold (non heated) shower block.

The fact that it’s open all year, the motorhome pitches are gravel, level and reasonable size, staff friendly

    Disliked:

Toilets grubby, cold a good walk from pitches in pitch black, on uneven ground if evening or early morning in winter, they need some lighting, motorhome pitches on North side of site, under huge acorn trees, so although gorgeous autumnal sunshine while there you get zero of it on your pitch all day, clay pigeon shooting behind vans to so Saturday shots were going nearly continuously from 10am to 4pm, and only place open for coffee or drink was in the cafe/restaurant adjoining the childrens soft play, so lots of children running in & out, the other shop & cafe closed, as was most of the facilities as out of season, no where to buy basics,

Bar and restaurant. Outside spaces clean and tidy

    Disliked:

Disabled toilet and shower facilities. The door was almost impossible to close as it had swollen. The shower did not have hot water. It needs to also have a regulator as push buttons are not helpful if you are disabled. It looked grubby so I didn’t use it. I’m sure the summer months are fine but parking under oak trees with acorns continuously hitting the roof of our motorhome got a bit annoying.
Men’s facilities shared with womens as the men’s were locked.
I wouldn’t not recommend but check exactly what you want out of staying here.

Friendly welcome, large pitch with electricity. Nice and quite away from the roads.

    Disliked:

Toilet facilities only moderately clean, and showers luke-warm at best. As a motor home visitor the promise of a hot shower is the main reason to pay for a campsite; the chilly shower is a deal-breaker for me.

Local attractions

Marwell Zoo (five minutes' drive) has over 140 different species to admire – you can also leave the car back at base and stroll over (about 20 minutes) for a pedestrian safari. Paultons Park (25 minutes' drive) is another perennial fave for family-oriented days out – here you can meet Peppa Pig, crash down log flumes or opt for wanders through a dinosaur-filled forest.

The South Downs National Park has some truly splendid hiking trails, including the 100-mile-long South Downs Way (the trail starts 15 minutes down the road in Winchester). Mountain bikers also have plenty to choose from around these parts – an exhilarating bike track through the woods is on hand in the nearby village of Bishopstoke (10 minutes).

The gorgeous New Forest National Park (25 minutes) is also within easy reach, and one of the best ways to get around is by open-top tour bus. There are three routes to choose from – it all comes down to whether you prefer vistas of heather-covered heathland or coastal explores. Speaking of the sea, beaches like Lepe and Highcliffe Castle (both 40 minutes) are very much worth the journey (make sure to pack jelly shoes and a towel if at all tempted).

  • INTECH Science Centre & Planetarium (8.3 kilometers)
  • Winchester Cathedral (8.8 kilometers)
