No word of a lie: you might land a whopper of a carp at Oakhill Leisure between Lincoln and Newark-on-Trent. For monsters of up to 35lb have been angled for at the site's six-acre fishing lake, as well as sizeable specimens of rudd, roach and tench. If you're not fishing or if you feel like doing a victory lap after landing a massive carp, plenty is on hand to explore, as Oakhill is on a site made up of the 10-acre campsite, walking and playing fields covering 30 acres, and finally about 20 acres of woodland. Take the 20 to 30-minute circular walk around the lake and through the woodland; it and the site grounds are pretty handsome… The accommodation part of Oakhill is on flat and well-drained grassland, bordered by trees on three sides and a hedge. Toilets, showers and a washroom are in the facilities building and a play area is also on site. But back to the fishing… You'll need a fishing licence (available at the post office) to fish at Oakhill Leisure, as well as your own equipment and bait; a small charge applies to angle on site, and you'll need to call the office in advance to book your peg. Please note that under-16s must be accompanied by an adult and that they aren't allowed to stay around the lake overnight.

喜欢 Lovely welcome on arrival, super helpful, excellent shower and toilet facilities they even have a dressing table room with hairdryers! Fabulous spacious site, woodland walking, fishing lake, kids play anrea, Ice creams, snacks & a wonderful coffee machine in Reception perfect 😍 wonderful owners, definitely be back.

喜欢 I have never seen a so clean camping ! The bathrooms, toilets, laundry room very clean and fancy ! A very quite camping. We have enjoyed every moment there. Definetly will come back !

Secure site with number plate recognition used to gain access to the pitches.

The individual shower cubicles are wet room in style. Well planned with the shower area separated from the changing area by a full height wall. Many hooks to hang clothes and belongings on.

Good location for visiting Lincoln, (20 minutes drive), or the Newark show ground, (10 minutes drive).

喜欢 The campsite was lovely and clean and the toilet and showers are brand new, heated and spotless.
The owner is incredibly friendly and we had a little flexibility on check out.

Evening meals recommended by the team are at the Green Man pub a mile and a half away. Visit nearby Newark for its castle, National Civil War Centre and Newark Museum and central square with a market all day on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Food and drink are recommended here too at Oakhill Leisure's fave coffee shop Strays in Middle Gate. The site is handy for lovely Lincoln, where you can have a look at the castle, the Medieval Bishop's Palace and the grand old cathedral: the views (and the walk to it up Steep Hill) are just a bit fabulous…
