General

  • 70-acre estate including fields and woodlands
  • Large fishing lake with rudd, roach and tench
  • Perfect place to explore the Lincolnshire countryside

No word of a lie: you might land a whopper of a carp at Oakhill Leisure between Lincoln and Newark-on-Trent. For monsters of up to 35lb have been angled for at the site's six-acre fishing lake, as well as sizeable specimens of rudd, roach and tench.

If you're not fishing or if you feel like doing a victory lap after landing a massive carp, plenty is on hand to explore, as Oakhill is on a site made up of the 10-acre campsite, walking and playing fields covering 30 acres, and finally about 20 acres of woodland. Take the 20 to 30 minute circular walk around the lake and through the woodland; it and the site grounds are pretty handsome....

The accommodation part of Oakhill is on flat and well-drained grassland, bordered by trees on three sides and a hedge. Toilets, showers (new in 2019) and a washroom are in the facilities building and a play area is also on site.

But back to the fishing... You'll need a fishing licence (available at the post office) to fish at Oakhill Leisure, as well as your own equipment and bait; a small charge applies to angle on site. Please note that under-16s must be accompanied by an adult and that they aren't allowed to stay around the lake overnight.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

No bachelor/bachelorette parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Bookings must not be for more than 7 consecutive nights.

Dogs are not allowed in the on-site accommodations.

Group bookings of 2 or more units (e.g. tent, touring caravan, motorhome or accommodation hire) travelling together are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

Single-sex bookings of 4 or more people (excluding couples) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

Clean site with modern facilities, good for couples02/16/2020

  • Camping pod
  • Recommend to friends   Visit again
  • Liked:

Clean, modern shower block and laundry room with warm welcome. The pod is sturdy and kept us dry and warm during storm Dennis. Would be a good for couples as a summer retreat

    Disliked:

The "double" beds, we only just fit one adult and 1 child on each bed, our children are both under 10 so there's no way these are doubles. The black leather one is rock hard and the grey is so soft you feel the middle support beam. The toilet is a bit of a treck across the field and during a storm or bad weather it's not a pleasant experience. Take wellies as if bad rain is forecast the ground around the pod floods. There are no curtains in the pod, only the roll down blinds on the outside which you can't have down in the wind as they bang on the sides on the pod. There's nothing written anywhere giving you info on the power amps, we tripped the electric on the first night so it would be good to have that info on the arrival sheet

From the manager...

Hi Rosanna Thank you for taking the time to place a review. Pleased to hear the pod kept you warm and dry during storm Dennis. Thank you also for your comments on the facilites in general. We try to ensure standards throughout the site are maintained.

The points raised in relation to the pod itself are noted and thank you. Following your review changing the beds is now a priority. The blinds generally are not an issue but obviously storm Dennis made things very blustery. The point made in relation to power and lack of written information has been taken on board and we are in the process of creating a sheet for the benefit of future customers.

Thank you again and hooe you will return when the sun is shining and the leaves green!

Regards

Anne

I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the heated toilet and new heated shower block, there was a laundrette.

Site was only 15 mins drive from Lincoln city.

    Site was quiet.

There was even a fishing lake and lots of woods to walk around.

    Disliked:

Had to wear beach shoes to toilet block as grass was wet in mornings. (Heavy dew on grass).

Visitors were only allowed if they paid a fee.

The site is immaculate. It is set in an amazing country side location with a lake next to it which is great for a walk around int he morning.
There is no distractions on site, no bar, no real noise just peace (if that what you are looking for).
The facilities are second to none. Showers are warm and clean with plenty of room in each cubicle. They are modern and you will feel like you are in a hotel room shower.
Village is close by (15 min walk) with coop and great bar/lounge.

Shower block is the best of any campsite I've stayed at, spotless with a full seperate changing area in each stall. Toilets also kept spotless.
Site is extremely well-run without being intrusive. Owners and warden all friendly and helpful.
The camping field at the back is massive, flat and well drained.
Good fishing lake on site, also very handy for the river Trent (which is what brings me here)
Third visit and will definitely be back.
