Rural roams are firmly on the agenda at Hanworth Country Park, a serene site dotted with pretty paths and six lakes around 15 minutes’ drive from Lincoln. And angling’s on the cards too – four of the bodies of water here, stocked with mirror carp, common carp, chub, barbel, ide, perch, roach and tench, are open for fishing. There’s also a café-bar to order takeaway food and drink (with a handful of tables if you fancy eating in). Travelling with the tiddlers? Let them roam free in the play area. Animals are also often seen scampering around the park, especially around the lakes and woodland: think buzzards, red kites, woodpeckers and kestrels, as well as brown hares, squirrels, hedgehogs and deer. Attempt to catch a glimpse of these critters while roving along routes through the country park, either on foot or by bike; a favourite trails is the famed Lincolnshire Spires and Steeples path, which runs through the park and ends up at Lincoln Cathedral. Closer by is the village of Potterhanworth (10 minutes’ walk), a peaceful place with a handful of amenities including a large playing field with a play park, a skateboard park and tennis courts. A pub’s in the centre of the village – handy for evening drinks – and there’s a bus stop plying the Lincoln to Sleaford and Lincoln to Boston routes for explores via public transport. Surrounding villages such as Metheringham, Branston, Heighington and Washingborough are all within five miles and have conveniences like food shops, inn, takeaways, cafés, butchers and post offices.

喜欢 Layout of the site and size of pitches was great. Views over the fields and yet only a short walk to the cafe/bar onsite. Modern heated individual shower/toilets with hot water and no queues. Just a £10 uber ride to Lincoln which was well worth a visit. Fab views of the red arrows practicing too.

不喜欢 No fault of the site, but no path on road as you left the site which limited access to villages by foot (safely).

喜欢 Great bar and restaurant. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Log fire.

不喜欢 Could do with better signings for water and grey waste. Plus some plonker was parked up against it so we had to borrow water from a serviced pitch.

喜欢 I Had been sent an offer on email to stay here so gave it a go whilst I had a free weekend and I’m so glad I did, what a wonderful place. It’s clean and well maintained grounds. The toilet block is superb, hot showers and warm bathrooms, kept clean by a friendly lady. We stayed in a camping pod which was cozy, warm and had everything we needed for the weekend, bedding, cups, plates and cutlery all provided with a view of one of the lakes. Dog friendly too with nice walks around the lakes. The bar looked inviting although we didn’t stay to eat/drink, polite lads working there provided me with my key and check in information. Good phone signal for the teenager. We visited Lincoln for one day and Anderby Creek beach the next, both stunning locations.

不喜欢 Only one thing to mention was the pod when we checked in had a very nasty strong smell of cigarette smoke which was unpleasant. I mentioned it to reception the next morning.
