Rural roams are firmly on the agenda at Hanworth Country Park, a serene site dotted with pretty paths and six lakes around 15 minutes’ drive from Lincoln. And angling’s on the cards too – four of the bodies of water here, stocked with mirror carp, common carp, chub, barbel, ide, perch, roach and tench, are open for fishing. There’s also a café-bar to order takeaway food and drink (with a handful of tables if you fancy eating in). Travelling with the tiddlers? Let them roam free in the play area. Animals are also often seen scampering around the park, especially around the lakes and woodland: think buzzards, red kites, woodpeckers and kestrels, as well as brown hares, squirrels, hedgehogs and deer. Attempt to catch a glimpse of these critters while roving along routes through the country park, either on foot or by bike; a favourite trails is the famed Lincolnshire Spires and Steeples path, which runs through the park and ends up at Lincoln Cathedral. Closer by is the village of Potterhanworth (10 minutes’ walk), a peaceful place with a handful of amenities including a large playing field with a play park, a skateboard park and tennis courts. A pub’s in the centre of the village – handy for evening drinks – and there’s a bus stop plying the Lincoln to Sleaford and Lincoln to Boston routes for explores via public transport. Surrounding villages such as Metheringham, Branston, Heighington and Washingborough are all within five miles and have conveniences like food shops, inn, takeaways, cafés, butchers and post offices.

Gostou The pitches are a really good size we were on an electric hard standing. The campsite is very clean. We didn’t use the toilets and shower so can’t comment on those. The swim lake looked very clean. The club house looked really nice. And inviting.

Não gostou Only thing I didn’t like is the fresh water is with the elson point. Whitchurch I find not nice but that could be just me.
Also I think Wi-Fi could be offered free

Gostou Proximity to Lincoln.
Great restaurant and bar ( although no real ale)
Nice flat pitches.
Great for walks around the fishing ponds.
Friendliness of reception staff.

Não gostou Toilet/ showers ( unisex ones) were barely useable. The rooms were in need of a deep clean- everything was grubby at best. They were also smelly.
Water temperature was distinctly cool.
We visited last year and thought the site had potential- but that seems to have got lost somewhere.
Even the newer showers seem to have been done with cost not comfort in mind.
Such a shame- I didn’t see any improvement from last year- even the swimming / paddleboard lake seemed half hearted- I didn’t see anywhere where people could shower/ change.

Gostou We’ve just spent two nights at Hanworth Country Park in one of their pods and had a lovely time!

The pod had everything we needed, including bedding, a microwave, fridge, TV, plates and cutlery. Having all these little essentials provided made our stay so much easier and meant we could relax without the hassle of bringing everything with us.

The lakes were lovely, and we really enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and quiet atmosphere. The toilet and shower facilities were also clean and well looked after, which always makes a difference.

The staff we met were friendly, welcoming and genuinely customer-focused, making us feel well looked after throughout our stay. The food was absolutely amazing too and was another highlight of our visit!

Overall, we couldn’t have asked for a nicer little getaway. A big thank you to the team for making us feel so welcome and helping make our two nights so enjoyable.

Gostou Lovely few days away. Camping pod was fantastic it had everything that I needed. Microwave, kettle, fridge, toaster, heating. Staff were very friendly. I will definitely return.
