A 15-minute drive to Lincoln; half an hour to the Lincolnshire Wolds
Café-bar, wifi, play area, takeaway food and fishing

Rural roams are firmly on the agenda at Hanworth Country Park, a serene site dotted with pretty paths and six lakes around 15 minutes’ drive from Lincoln. And angling’s on the cards too – four of the bodies of water here, stocked with mirror carp, common carp, chub, barbel, ide, perch, roach and tench, are open for fishing. There’s also a café-bar to order takeaway food and drink (with a handful of tables if you fancy eating in). Travelling with the tiddlers? Let them roam free in the play area. Animals are also often seen scampering around the park, especially around the lakes and woodland: think buzzards, red kites, woodpeckers and kestrels, as well as brown hares, squirrels, hedgehogs and deer. Attempt to catch a glimpse of these critters while roving along routes through the country park, either on foot or by bike; a favourite trails is the famed Lincolnshire Spires and Steeples path, which runs through the park and ends up at Lincoln Cathedral. Closer by is the village of Potterhanworth (10 minutes’ walk), a peaceful place with a handful of amenities including a large playing field with a play park, a skateboard park and tennis courts. A pub’s in the centre of the village – handy for evening drinks – and there’s a bus stop plying the Lincoln to Sleaford and Lincoln to Boston routes for explores via public transport. Surrounding villages such as Metheringham, Branston, Heighington and Washingborough are all within five miles and have conveniences like food shops, inn, takeaways, cafés, butchers and post offices.

Liked: Clubhouse was great, dog friendly, reasonable prices, good food. Manager helped me isolate why my van electric kept tripping out of hours on a Friday night. Was my fridge.What a hero.

Disliked: Female showers were a distance from our plot, but males closer.

Liked: The location was gorgeous, lovely spacious pitch & friendly staff.

Disliked: Showers were not kept clean & were tired. Frequently ran out of toilet paper.
A bench inside to dry off would be good.
Trains running nearby through the night took a bit of getting used to.

Camping pod (comfort, pet friendly, double)

Liked: Pretty much everything was perfect.
The cabin was really nice and cozy, the bed was reasonably comfy. The fridge was a decent size. The bar was nice the food looked good the ice creams were fantastic.

Disliked: I am nit picking but the bins could have been emptied in the toilet and the mattress protector on the bed could have done with a hoover.

Liked: The space, surroundings and great dog walks! The café was always busy (a good sign) and provided us with space to meet up with friends and family. Food was reasonably priced and ice cream fantastic. It was good to have space sheltered from the wind to sit outside and eat where the dogs could be with us.

Disliked: Gents showers limited in size.

Liked: Great service from all staff. And the owner/manger obviously not work shy, he was on site pretty much all the time. And he clearly enjoys the hospitality industry. Like I say, all staff were more than helpfull and nice I love this place.

Electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: The staff were really amazing and so helpful. We were staying as had to drop our motorhome off to a local garage to get it fixed. The reception ladies were incredibly kind and offered the use of their facilities as we had no power. The lovely cafe on site was a bonus and very popular with locals. There was a little noise from the train line at the back of the site but we didnt really notice it and it was not over night. The lakes are beautiful to walk around. The toilets were clean and tidy and there were plenty of them. We would stay again as it is very close to Lincoln for a day out.
