Dart off to Derbyshire and make for Irondale Touring Caravans and Campsite in Stanton by Dale, a well-kept site attached to an award-winning pub. The name of this spot is a nod to Stanton's industrial heritage – if the village rings a bell, it may well be because 'Stanton' crops up on many a manhole cover across the UK. Nowadays, things are peaceful around here, and the site is set between traditional red brick houses and a small village green. The Chequers Inn is over 200 years old and still in fine fettle – its selling point remains its focus on real ales and proper home-cooked food. The pub, like the site, is mightily dog-friendly, so don't hesitate to bring four-legged friends along on your trip. The pitches here are level, well-drained and conveniently located to the rear of the pub. Although it's close to the M1, off-site strolls are unlikely to involve busy roads and traffic – Irondale Touring Caravans and Campsite is a few minutes' walk from footpaths that'll take you through the pleasant fields and hills that make up the local landscape. The nearest supermarket can be found in Sandiacre (five minutes' drive); Ilkeston (10 minutes) has a wider range of shops and takeaways. Please note that kids under the age of 14 aren't allowed to stay at Irondale Touring Caravans and Campsite.

喜欢 Spacious potch, good communication from Sue who also came out when we arrived to help us pitch site ideally located close to motorway, interesting historic village , very clean toilets close by , wonderful friendly staff in the pub who went out of their way to assist us in getting a takeaway delivered as we arrived past food service. Ken the falcon was a real bonus seeing him fly and feed from sues wriat.

不喜欢 No showers but we were I a motorhome so we could use our own facilities

喜欢 Beautiful site, great size pitch with own grass section and bench. The toilets are clean and easily accessible at all times. We were lucky enough to see the Hawk flying this morning as we were packing up to leave.

不喜欢 Absolutely nothing not to like except no small shop nearby so take everything you need with you.

喜欢 Queit well maintained site that is next to an amazing pub. Food was delicious at the pub, must be pre-ordered. Toilet facilities were convenient and clean. Sites had a table with umbrellas on each one.

喜欢 A beautiful little well kept site, there are 5 pitches all hard standing with room for an awing and grass area with an outdoor wooden bench and table. The site is located at the back of the pub The cheques which serves lovely food, there is also another pub around the corner which offers great food too , both are dog friendly .

喜欢 Well laid out pitches with benches on each pitch. Very clean toilets, loved to meet Ken Moon, harrier hawk. Didn't see him fly but a beautiful bird of prey. Didn't get to eat in pub as no meals on Mondays but very welcoming.

Heading towards the Peak District National Park (from 45 minutes) is also on the cards, whether you opt for Derbyshire dalliances in the grounds of Chatsworth House (an hour) or old-time amusements and riverside walks in Matlock Bath (45 minutes).
