What a peaceful place this is, with a gently-flowing stream and heaps of greenery – and an excellent base for hunting for fossils on the Jurassic coast or sauntering over sections of the South West Coast Path. A 20-minute drive from Charmouth and 25 minutes from Lyme Regis, Clapton Farm Caravan and Campsite is the sort of spot where evenings can be spent chatting to other like-minded folk around the communal firepit… In the daytime, you might want to scour the coast at Lyme Regis and Charmouth for fossils (or perhaps for the finest fish and chips you’re able to get your hands on). West Bay is also half an hour’s drive away for surfing, scuba diving and other watersports. Close to the Somerset and Dorset border, this is a central location if there ever was one. It’s also a friendly patch – canine companions have a large field where they can be let off their leads to play, just over the stream. The friendly hosts can often be found around the firepit in the eve or across the road in the farmhouse – they say, if you need anything, just ask. They’re sure to point you towards all the hot spots… This could include weaving between the rhododendron and the thick trunks of the Wayford Woods, 25 minutes’ walk from the site. Any picnics can be put together with goodies from the supermarkets in Crewkerne, five minutes’ drive away

Tyckte om How friendly the owners were, they took us for a look around the farm to meet the animals which made my daughter very happy. The site was small and quiet set in a beautiful location. We'll definitely be visiting again.. The toilet shower shed was lovely and always clean , very happy with our stay and the free WiFi was a bonus.

Tyckte om Lovely little farm campsite with a warm and wonderful welcome on arrival.

It has a stream at the end of the field and a big field across a bridge to walk the dogs and let them play ball. The facilities were clean and tidy.

There are free-range ducks so that was a bit tricky with high prey drive dogs but that’s an us problem. The ducks themselves were adorable. There is a train line at edge of the fields. Didn’t bother us but worth noting as it is a bit noisy when the trains come through (not very often and doesn’t last long!).

We didn’t use electric hook up but it is available if needed as was access to water.
There is no phone reception in the field which was blissful. Only an issue when we were trying to work out if we were in the right place. WiFi available to use for free. Slightly intermittent but there were two to access and as we didn’t really need it so we didn’t try the other.

Tyckte inte om The campsite is small and so it could be a bit cramped if full but fortunately that wasn’t the case when we were there on a Sunday night outside of school holidays.

Tyckte om Great little site for a break away from the chaos of a city. The site is surrounded by a beautiful river that’s just so calming to listen to. Lots of wildlife and free roaming ducks. The owner is very welcoming and helpful with local knowledge. It’s only a 25 minute drive to Lyme Regis.

Tyckte om Great small site with everything you need. Even a washing machine which is great if your travelling round a few areas and don't have much packing space. Toilets and showers cleaned regularly and the added touch of the sanitary tin in the ladies was very thoughtful (as a parent of a pre-teen)
Owners couldn't do enough for you and made us feel very welcome. Will definitely use again.

Tyckte om Loved the Vista and location, very tranquil and relaxing. Lovely helpful hosts. The stream and small paddock for the dogs was an absolute bonus. Small site so very quiet and chilled. There is the odd train and occasional traffic noise, all very quiet at night, we are the worlds lightest sleepers and we had the best sleep at this sight. Complete bonus, use of washing machine for donation towards costs and large toilet and shower so you could dry yourself and get dressed comfortably, sadly I missed out on the spiders, all very clean. Wayford Woods were fab and the Indian Runner Ducks were adorable. We spotted a fox, buzzards and a goshawk at the campsite. Can't recommend it enough, we will definitely be back.
