We're sorry your stay didn't go as you'd hoped, and we'd like to address your points as clearly as we can.
On arrival, every guest receives our welcome booklet, which includes diagrams showing exactly how to pitch on their allocated pitch. This same information — including guidance on rock pegs and hammers for use on our shingle panels — is also included in our pre-arrival email. We do our best to ensure guests have everything they need before and on arrival.
The shingle panel on each pitch serves a very specific purpose: it provides the legally required fire break between neighbouring pitches. This is a condition of our licence and a requirement under fire regulations and health and safety law — it's not something we can be flexible on. During your stay, we had around 100 guests on hard-standing pitches, and the vast majority set up correctly. When we noticed your tent was positioned on the grass rather than the panel, we did need to ask you to move it — we're sorry if that felt uncomfortable, but it's a rule we have to apply consistently for everyone's safety.
Regarding your question about cooking next to the fence — cooking on a pitch is quite different from pitching a tent on the grass rather than the designated hard standing, which is specifically positioned to create the required separation between pitches. We'd be happy to explain this further if it would help.
On the shingle itself — we use small Dorset river-washed shingle, which is widely used across campsites for tents and awnings. We're sorry you found it difficult on this occasion; our pre-arrival information does include advice on the type of pegs recommended.

Tyckte om The pitches were generously sized and well spaced with privacy hedges. The showers were excellent, very good water pressure and no timer switches/buttons! Just a proper shower! Very clean, friendly site.

Från föreståndaren: Thank you for the 9/10 review and we are very pleased you enjoyed Emma's Glade. It is a lovely camping area.
We do only run the bar 4pm - 8pm as we are a tranquil park and need to be very mindful of the noise. This generally is very well received. We do have an off license as well, and there is a pub 10 minutes walk away if you wanted to drink later.
We do sell Hawkstone lager and Cider as it promotes British farming. We try to buy local where possible and we are keen to help the British farmers wherever we can. I am sorry if you are not a fan of Jeremy Clarkson but a large amount of our guests really enjoy his lager and cider.
We do have alternate offerings as well if you do not.

In answer to your dislikes.
Midges are common in May and is part of camping. We do have citronella candles and spray replant in the shop.
We do allow firepits but due to our woodland park we cant allow any old firepit due to the fire risks. So we provide the thick safe off the ground ones, including all the safe briquette wood which works out at £4 a night for the firepit. These are delivered to you and removed and cleaned afterward. Not extortionate I would say.
Emma's glade is a large wooded area that we only allow 20 tents in. We don't take groups as we are a tranquil park.

Tyckte om Lovely site with lots of nature, excellent size pitches with hedge screening and very nice staff. Showers and toilets really clean and warm and the bar and visiting food pop ups are great
