Cambrose Camping and Touring

Gostou Owners were really welcoming and helpful so I felt relaxed to start the holiday.
The site is well maintained and in beautiful countryside lovely trees around you . The pitches are spaced so you have privacy
It’s a perfect location to visit Cornwall north and south coast.
The campsite is great space for children there’s a field where they can play football , a pool table and a very clean swimming pool.
There’s a small shop onsite and I enjoyed getting a coffee in the shop.

Gostou Wonderful campsite and super friendlyanf helpful hosts!

Close to Portreath beach by bike with no need to go on main roads.
A good base for exploring other beaches too.

Campsite has great facilities for our kids aged 3, 12 and 14. The pool was beautiful (albeit a bit cold and the weather was a bit disappointing so we only ended up going in once in our 7 days), my toddler loved the park and the trampoline as well as picking all the blackberries onsite and looking at the ducks. The older boys used the football pitch but we never ended up using the pool table as we never had coins and was exhausted from our beach trips.

Plenty of space for washing up, the family shower room meant the older boys could help with the toddler and the laundry room was really helpful to dry clothes and limit the number of washes upon our return.

Our pitch was plentiful and private with space for bikes, a cooking area and a large awning. Our power lead didn't quite reach the plug but the campsite owners had a spare.

The site is well maintained and you can see Jen and Neil (new owners) work hard to make improvements. Sadly, we didn't try the food as our middle son is ceoliac so pizza night didn't cater for him, but Jen mentioned that they are going to invest in another oven (perhaps if we return next year?).

We went to a curry house ten minutes away which was pretty tasty but there's no path so pretty dicey to get to on foot, especially if walking back in the dark!

There are several other things within walking/ cycling distance we didn't end up doing - maybe the bike track place next time.

We went to St Agnes, Padstow, Chapel Porthtowan, (drove past Perranporth and it was packed) and to Falmouth on the other side of Cornwall and they were all within an hour's drive. Beware and plan your journey - There are many single track roads and hills so not that easy in a van!

Our favourite beach was Porthtowan - we watched the sunset here on our last night and it was stunning.

In all, a lovely family holiday and for a first time visit to Cornwall. We've recently acquired our van and been to quite a few sites this year and this is by far the best! The pitch up rating is well deserved.

Gostou The showers

Não gostou The WiFi was horrendous, No signal nothing so when you wanted to plan your day you had to go out of the campsite to get some sort of signal, To many signs ,To many instructions ,like you don't know already how to respect a campsite, You felt like you was being watched all the time . Showers was nice but then the drains started backing up and a foul smell

We’re a little surprised the Wi-Fi carried so much weight in your overall experience, especially as we explained several times that the issue was your phone’s privacy settings, not the Free site Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, we can’t operate everyone’s phones for them!

As for the signs… yes, there are quite a few friendly handwritten signs. They tell guests about our amazing Friday night nachos, Tuesday & Saturday tasty sourdough pizzas, local cider, chilled beers.
As well as the swimming pool, stream, outside showers and our Indian Runner ducks.
We thought the signs would be more useful than leaving everyone guessing whats on the site.

Gostou Really lovely site - very friendly staff, spotless and well thought out facilities! The showers were fantastic - powerful and roomy. Pitches in the far field were roomy and well spaced out. The kids loved the play space in the middle too.

Não gostou The timer switch in the little toilet block in the far field went off too quickly if you were trying to brush your teeth.

Gostou camping grounds themselves are pretty good

Não gostou Owner was rude, aggressive and completely unreasonable, as well as incompetent. Pitches were moved without explanation and the owners on multiple occasions berated me for using Pitchup instead of booking directly. The campsite doesn't feel like a standard, relaxed, camping atmosphere, it's tightly controlled and stifling. Many other visitors complained to me about how many rules there are, and the owner poking around their camps, checking cars and a few missed the old owners. The new management are obviously out of their depth and can't handle the flexibility required to do the job. Do yourself a favour and go to a proper campsite with flexible chilled out management instead.

Do gestor: We feel it is important to clarify the circumstances for future guests.

Your check-in time was 2pm, but you arrived at around 10am. Despite this, we offered you an early check-in as a gesture of goodwill but you refused.

You then parked two vehicles in our arrivals and departures area, preventing other guests from accessing the site. When asked to move them, you subsequently parked in front of our neighbour’s access and intended to leave the vehicle there for the day. We could not allow this, as it would have obstructed our neighbours driveway.

We offered to refund your booking, which you declined.

During your stay, we received complaints about your noise, behaviour around other guests’ pitches and vehicles obstructing a passing point required by other guests, caravans and emergency vehicles. Three vehicles were also parked around your pitch, including an additional vehicle that had not been fully paid for.

We want Cambrose to be relaxed and welcoming, but we also have a responsibility to maintain safe access, respect our neighbours and ensure every guest can enjoy their stay.

The issues raised with you were not about being unnecessarily restrictive; they were about basic site rules, safety and consideration for others.

We wish you well with your future camping trips.

Gostou Wahnsinnig familiär und engagiert geführt, tolle Stellplätze. Darüber hinaus regelmäßig Pizza- und Nachoabende, tolles Ambiente. Top Lage, von dort kommt man an viele Orte und Strände in der Umgebung. Rustikal und vielleicht nicht für jede/n passend, aber für uns eine 10/10!! WLAN nicht das beste, das Handynetz im gesamten Cornwall war nicht so, hilft beim digital Detox.
