A peaceful rural retreat 10 minutes’ drive from seaside Hastings in Kent, Beaulieu Farm Campsite sits on an arable farm that has been family-run for four generations; most of the fields are now used for making hay, which is sold in the animal feed shop five minutes’ walk away. As this is a working farm, there is no access to any fields other than the slightly undulating, well-mown camping meadow, where spacious pitches are sheltered by hedges and mature trees. The site entrance is controlled by electric gates, which operate via number-plate recognition and work around the clock for your maximum security. Amenities include washing-up sinks and separate facilities for men and women with loos and, for a small fee per every five minutes, showers. Barbecues are allowed on site (you’ll need to bring your own equipment), and you can pick up bits and bobs to grill at the local convenience store (15 minutes’ walk). If you’re not a fan of alfresco cooking, there’s a pub serving good food about the same distance away. For bigger shopping needs or a variety of bars and restaurants, you can catch a bus into Hastings right outside the site entrance, with the journey taking 10 minutes.

Ik was blij met Staff were really welcoming and helpful. Facilities were clean and well serviced. Campsite was also well kept. Great price.

Ik was niet blij met Traffic could be heard, but appreciate there’s little they can do about that.

Ik was blij met This is a new site and the owners are in the process of adding things such as a shop to the site which I found very useful.
The site is secure with number plate recognition entry which I think makes it feel so much safer.
The site is quiet and peaceful. The toilets and showers are clean and I liked that I didn’t have to look over my shoulder for spiders!!
The site is in a nice location.

Ik was niet blij met The showers do not have a temp control and are very warm for me particularly in the hot weather. It would be good to be able to turn it up or down. You get 5 mins of hot water for £1 but if there are people using the sinks the water pressure goes off so you lose time when there is only a drip coming out.
At no fault of the staff unfortunately we had to leave a day early due to there being petrol on the ground under our tent. We may have to throw the tent away as we can’t get the smell out of it. The staff did apologise deeply and we were offered another pitch but we didn’t see any point moving all our stuff for the sake of a night and a 10am check out. I will say if anyone uses petrol or spills petrol please let the site know because this can reflect badly in the site staff but it isn’t their fault if they haven’t been told. Staff were shocked and were understandably concerned about how this could have resulted in our tent going up in flames or the fumes causing serious harm to our health.

Ik was blij met Limited choice of sites in close proximity to Hastings, and this is. Fairly quiet and secure, for a town location, but some road noise. Overall the site seemed well maintained, but limited pitches on level ground.

Ik was niet blij met No views. It’s a field surrounded by woodland, with basic, small and prefabricated washrooms. Also needing a coin for the showers is a faff; a timer would be better. And be aware it’s a one hour walk to the town centre and beach.

Ik was blij met Clean, well kept campsite with easy automatic entry via ANPR cameras. Good service (offered an extension cord for our electric hookup which was very welcome! Clean showers/toilets although £1 coin needed for 5 mins of hot water. Basic facilities but all you need as a base to explore the area. Would stay again

Ik was niet blij met A little noisy if you're on the upper part of the field near a car park. Shop/reception not manned in the day.

Ik was blij met Lovely friendly owner, greeted us we came in, gave us all the information needed. Campsite has all the good basics, clean, modern showers and toilets. On a good bus route if needed. Lots of space and well maintained. Dine simple and well. Definitely will return

Ik was blij met Really friendly and helpful staff. Massive field with spacious pitches. Very clean toilet and shower facilities. Little shop with essentials and treats. Washing up area and plenty of drinking water taps. Secure site with cctv, ANPR secure gate and passcode pedestrian gate. Everyone respected each others space! Would visit again.

Ik was niet blij met Showers are coin operated and we had no cash and no cash machine/change machine anywhere local. Depends where you are in the field but close to a road but didn’t bother us

Beaulieu Farm Campsite makes a great base for family day trips: the beach, pier and fish and chip shops of Hastings are 10 minutes’ drive/bus journey away. If the weather’s not playing ball, you can head down to Hastings Aquarium (15 minutes’ drive) and watch majestic sharks glide about their tanks, or dive deep underground to follow old pirates’ tunnels at the Smugglers Adventure (also 15 minutes). If your interests veer more towards the cultural, Hastings Castle (15 minutes) has dungeons and a medieval chapel to nose around, or you might get the kids to fall in love with history on a dragon hunt at moated Bodium Castle (25 minutes). The imposing remains of Battle Abbey (15 minutes) houses interactive displays on the Battle of Hastings in 1066. When fresh air is on the agenda, head for the High Weald National Landscape (10 minutes), where you can stroll up to Harold’s Henge, a sculpture along the 1066 Country Walk (10 minutes’ drive to the car park). Alternatively, hike sections of the Saxon Shore Way as it passes through Hastings Country Park (15 minutes).
