A peaceful rural retreat 10 minutes’ drive from seaside Hastings in Kent, Beaulieu Farm Campsite sits on an arable farm that has been family-run for four generations; most of the fields are now used for making hay, which is sold in the animal feed shop five minutes’ walk away. As this is a working farm, there is no access to any fields other than the slightly undulating, well-mown camping meadow, where spacious pitches are sheltered by hedges and mature trees. The site entrance is controlled by electric gates, which operate via number-plate recognition and work around the clock for your maximum security. Amenities include washing-up sinks and separate facilities for men and women with loos and, for a small fee per every five minutes, showers. Barbecues are allowed on site (you’ll need to bring your own equipment), and you can pick up bits and bobs to grill at the local convenience store (15 minutes’ walk). If you’re not a fan of alfresco cooking, there’s a pub serving good food about the same distance away. For bigger shopping needs or a variety of bars and restaurants, you can catch a bus into Hastings right outside the site entrance, with the journey taking 10 minutes.

  • Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.
  • The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. XL Bully, Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).
  • Group bookings of 3 or more units (e.g. tent, touring caravan, motorhome or accommodation hire) travelling together are not permitted via Pitchup.com.
  • Group bookings of 8 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).
  • Single-sex bookings of 4 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.
  • No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.
  • Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.
  • The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.
  • Reception is unmanned after 7 p.m.. Please inform the site while on your way there should you expect to arrive after this time, so that the team can provide information about your unit/pitch.
  • Minimum spacing of 6 metres between pitches.
  • Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.
  • If reception is closed on arrival: please contact the number provided on your booking confirmation.
  • A charge of £1 per 5 minutes applies for the use of the shower.

Disliked Cost- £25 for non electric pitch, check in and out times- less than 24 hours and not very clear signage if approaching from the right
Non electric pitches were not marked so tho the freedom to choose a space is nice it’s confusing as to where to park given that it’s meant to be 6 meters apart

Liked Great site, very spacious pitches, Mike who runs the site is very welcoming and went out of his way to loan us an electric hook up cable as we left ours at home.
They are stocking up to have a little shop for essentials which will be great when it opens.
The toilets were very clean and toilet roll was plentiful, handwash provided and hot air dryer too.
You need a £1 coin for a five minute shower which was enough time to wash plus shampoo and condition hair with some time left over.
The pitches were on a bit of a slope so recommend using levellers.
Great location, there is a pub about 15 minutes walk when you turn right on exiting the site it is downhill, so takes longer on the way back! Just outside the site there is a cafe too
There was a bus stop just outside the site, we walked into Hastings and it took about 1 hour 20 mins to get to the seafront. On our next visit we will get a day rider bus ticket as only a little more in cost than a return ticket.

Disliked Playgroup/sports pitch just the other side of the hedge was quite noisy, but didn’t go on late.
Notes asking you to keep the wash up sinks clean of debris, but no bin to put and debris in.

Local attractions

Beaulieu Farm Campsite makes a great base for family day trips: the beach, pier and fish and chip shops of Hastings are 10 minutes’ drive/bus journey away. If the weather’s not playing ball, you can head down to Hastings Aquarium (15 minutes’ drive) and watch majestic sharks glide about their tanks, or dive deep underground to follow old pirates’ tunnels at the Smugglers Adventure (also 15 minutes). If your interests veer more towards the cultural, Hastings Castle (15 minutes) has dungeons and a medieval chapel to nose around, or you might get the kids to fall in love with history on a dragon hunt at moated Bodium Castle (25 minutes). The imposing remains of Battle Abbey (15 minutes) houses interactive displays on the Battle of Hastings in 1066. When fresh air is on the agenda, head for the High Weald National Landscape (10 minutes), where you can stroll up to Harold’s Henge, a sculpture along the 1066 Country Walk (10 minutes’ drive to the car park). Alternatively, hike sections of the Saxon Shore Way as it passes through Hastings Country Park (15 minutes).
