When the scenery is this spectacular, you don’t need to add many extra attractions to create a great little place to stay. That’s the (very sensible) approach at Hollington End Farm, a working farm surrounded by the dramatic landscapes of the Peak District National Park. The owners here have chosen to keep things simple for that true feeling of being immersed in these fabulous Derbyshire surroundings. There are no guest toilets or showers so you’ll need to be self-contained on the bathroom front, but you’ll have access to a chemical disposal point. Pitches are in a part-sloping field with plenty of space for awnings, barbecues and camping chairs, so get yourselves set up how you like and then put your feet up to admire the splendid views. Need some barbecue supplies? The town of Ashbourne (10 minutes’ drive away) is a good place to find shops of all sorts, along with a few places to eat. If you’re more in the mood for a pub dinner, take a 20-minute walk across the farm’s fields to the pub in Thorpe. Heading the other way, a 20-minute stroll gets you to Tissington for a tea room overlooking the village duck pond. Keen to stretch your legs a bit more? A public footpath crossing the site takes you out onto endless miles of trails through the stunning scenery, including routes to Thorpe Cloud and Dovedale. And there’s good news for any hopeful wagging tails out there too – this site welcomes dogs, so they’ll be welcome to join you for a scenic stay and a walk or two.

Rustige, goed gelegen boerencamping, ideaal voor wandelaars/fietsers met mooie uitzichten en toegang tot paden. Vriendelijke eigenaren, goede prijs-kwaliteitverhouding, boerenproducten te koop. Veel hellende plekken, maar hardstanding is beschikbaar. Basic, zonder sanitair, maar goed gecommuniceerd. Pub "The Old Dog" populair.

Ik was blij met I loved the position of this site. Basic but price reflects this so really good value for money and can walk straight from site which is what stuck out for me when booking. Straight to Thorpe cloud or Tissington or the stepping stones at Dovedale. Took approx an hour one way with dogs in tow so a good route and avoids the super busy car park at such popular tourist spots and also allowed me to go later in the afternoon once the crowds had gone. Really quiet site at night time which was also nice and owners left us to do it. Will definitely be booking again as great value for money. The dog pub is also walking distance and fab outside seating area with good food. As a solo lady on her own I felt very safe on this site and pitched next to the sheep so it was lovely waking up to that view! 🐑

Ik was blij met What a little gem of a site, very peaceful in a lovely location in walking distance to various places. A family run business who were very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be staying again.

Ik was niet blij met Only downside is that there isn’t a local shop in walking distance. Nearest shop is Ashbourne so need transport or ensure you have everything you need. There is also no WiFi as far as I am aware.

Ik was blij met Nice, well located site with plenty of hookups. Quiet and peaceful.

Ik was niet blij met Difficult to get to most pitch options because of degree of slopes and wet grass surface. No ex facilities.

Ashbourne (10 minutes’ drive) is more than just a handy place for shops – it’s also a lovely place for a wander, with heritage buildings, cobbled streets and a Thursday market. It’s also the starting point for the 13-mile Tissington Trail, a traffic-free route for walkers and cyclists; bikes can be hired locally. Delving further into the Peak District National Park might take you to places like Dovedale (five minutes), Thor’s Cave (15 minutes) and Arbor Low Stone Circle and Gib Hill Barrow (15 minutes) or to popular towns like Buxton and Bakewell (both 25 minutes). Haddon Hall (25 minutes) and Chatsworth House (half an hour) both make excellent outings if you like to explore grand historic buildings. Just outside the national park’s boundaries, the cable car at Heights of Abraham (half an hour) is a great way to see some of the scenery from above. If that’s not quite enough of a thrill, try a day on the rollercoasters of Alton Towers (25 minutes) – or the rides of Gulliver’s Kingdom (25 minutes) if you’ve got smaller kids.
