The Old Dairy Farm Caravan and Camping

Mi è piaciuto: The site is easy to find and is set in a lovely location with nice local walks. There is large playing fields for children to play and the park was a great hit for the children and not forgetting the goats. The pitches are level. There is a great sheltered seating area which is great if you go with friends and it’s raining.

Non mi è piaciuto: The arrival times are the same as leaving times. We were running behind by 10 minutes and the new arrivals were waiting. Usually sites give an hour or so. The showers fluctuate from burning hot to cold, very difficult to use and not safe for children. There was a lot of hair in the showers too and water on the floor. The lock on the shower wasn’t great and opened whilst in the shower. No where to put your clothes in the men’s showers other than a single peg. The cleanliness of the toilets is poor. The noise from the trains is very loud and woke us up every morning even in a caravan. The first night we were told to be quiet after 9pm which we adhered to. However our neighbours were loud up until midnight most nights.

Mi è piaciuto: Lovely site on the edge of a lovely village. Good shop with the option to hire fire pits, nice bar, food served on the site from time to time (wasn’t sure how this schedule worked), goats and birds to look at, nice play park, good hot showers, electric hook up with tap great.

Non mi è piaciuto: Despite the sterling efforts of the nice man with the beard who was clearly trying to keep the toilets clean (and deserves a pay rise! 😂) they were pretty much always awful - one of the regularly appeared blocked and to be leaking, one of them was completely missing a lock. We came two years ago the standard was much higher. Someone also appeared to have thrown up in the bushes near the loos and this hadn’t been noticed and the smell was awful after 3 days!

This is the third time we’ve visited the site and each time we’ve had problems with unsupervised children bullying our son and granddaughter. While I know this can happen anywhere it seems endemic at this site - it seems to be attracting people who don’t care what their offspring are up to and who haven’t taught them how to use a loo!! One child actually repeatedly tried to intimidate my son and I in our tent (I had kept him away from the park to avoid trouble!) before deciding to shoot me and my mobile phone with a water gun whilst I was inside my own tent because I had retrieved a item he had stolen from my child from him! Perhaps encouraging parents to take actual responsibility for their little darlings would help? Whilst I know the Old Dairy Farm isn’t responsible for this we’ve had problems each of the 3 times we’ve stayed here.

Mi è piaciuto: Facilities are a wow factor for me, everything you need for a pleasant stay, wonderful atmosphere and environment for children to play and feed goats. When we arrived we were greeted by a lovely lady with a very friendly welcome, sadly only saw her twice on our stay but she made my son feel so welcome to 'shop' I hope she sees this, a real asset to the place!

Set in a beautiful little village with two local pubs and nature walks for every ability. Would highly recommend.

Non mi è piaciuto: Cooked food (pizza only) not available daily. this would have been a great option on other days too as you can't BBQ in the rain.
The rules for using shared communal spaces was not clearly explained.
Shower facilities need a deep clean and not all toilet doors have locks.

Mi è piaciuto: Great atmosphere and lots for the kids to play with and keep them occupied. Big areas of grass for them to run around and play football.

Non mi è piaciuto: Bathroom/toilet facilities were a bit tired and not the cleanest.

Mi è piaciuto: We spent an amazing weekend at the Old Dairy Farm campsite, it was brilliant! The site is spacious, well-kept, and full of charm – perfect for both kids and adults.

We loved the natural setting, the clear open areas for activities, and the peaceful atmosphere. It had everything we needed for a fun and adventurous stay: plenty of room for tents and a big playground for kids.

The facilities were clean and well-maintained.

Highly recommended for family groups, youth camps, or anyone looking for a proper outdoor experience!

Mi è piaciuto: Really welcoming, good clean toilets, great bar. We enjoyed the wood fired pizza on offer. Live music on Saturday night was brilliant too!

Mi è piaciuto: A large site with showers and hot water. Live music one day. Bar and shop are very handy and good value. Friendly staff. Site was quiet, despite being busy. Really pleased. Think it’s excellent value for money. Would highly recommend.

Mi è piaciuto: Lovely campsite with simply but clean and useful facilities. Spot on for the price, and the website photos don't do it justice. It's a big site! Clean toilets and showers, fire pits available to hire (these were a hit with everyone!) and even had live music on the Saturday night. Pizzas were superb and even had a choice of well priced beers at the bar (£4.50 a pint).

Non mi è piaciuto: Playground could do with some TLC and a few more extras.

Mi è piaciuto: - Good location for walks along the canal and pub along the way
- Kids loved the on site goats and birds
- Good play area for the kids
- Pitches were well maintained
- On site entertainment, bar, shop and hot food.
- We would still recommend and stay again despite the dislikes in the hope they were more about the people staying on site and a better experience next time.

Non mi è piaciuto: - Very busy site
- No presence from the owners/managers of the site
- Felt cliquey
- Older kids who appeared to be those of the owners intimidating the younger kids by stopping them playing on “their” play equipment and chasing them on their bikes
- One of the “owners” threatened my 6 and 7 year olds that he would have them “kicked off site”
- Two working women’s toilet as broken lock to one and broken toilet seat to another.

Dal gestore: And there’s the one family that can potentially ruin everyone’s experience. Your unsupervised children were scratching, kicking and hitting all the other kids, refused to get off the swings after many kids asking after a minimum of 30 mins for a turn and not even swinging. You left it to me to have to discipline your children for the safety of all others, didn’t even apologise nor offer any parenting even then. Cliquey is what happens when every child on site gets me to discipline your children for their own safety. May I say your children were fine after I had a word with them.

As for my kids asking campers to stay out of my private garden, this is firstly as it’s a private gated off area and most importantly uninsured for campers.

As for me not being around, I’m on site 24hrs, with a team of staff, and there to resolve issues - like your children!

As for the toilet doors, these will be checked and fixed immediately if this is the case.

And yes we are a popular site, and very proud of that!

You’re welcome to stay again, but if you and your kids didn’t learn from this stay and continued to hurt others then they will be given a warning again.
