A aimé View of Ailsa Craig.

N'a pas aimé Very uneven pitches not enough chocks for both directions. Electricity kept tripping even before a problem caravan came. Had to ring a bell for attention took a very long time to answer. Had to go into the cafe. Just a random small hilly eneven field. Not worth £29 per night.

Balkenna is a grass coastal campsite, but guests should still be helped to find the best level position and any hookup problem should be dealt with promptly. We are reinforcing those checks with the team and reviewing what levelling assistance is available. We’re glad you enjoyed the view of Ailsa Craig, although we’re sorry the rest of your stay did not meet expectations.

A aimé Lovely small relaxed site, clean facilities with lovely powerful showers. Extra bonus is the cafe that serves great food. Short walk from a secluded beach

N'a pas aimé Road noise but we knew there would be some. Did feel a bit strange having to walk past people in the cafe on the way to and from the showers, would be nice to have access directly from the field.

A aimé Lovely wee camp site with a great tearoom that does an amazing breakfast. Staff were all very friendly and the facilities were excellent.

N'a pas aimé The noise from the road and a large, noisy, thoughtless group. I camp every weekend this time of year and this was by far the noisest campsite I've been to.

We are very sorry that the road noise and, especially, the neighbouring group's behaviour spoiled your stay. The group was contacted after complaints, but the disturbance clearly went on too long. We have since strengthened our 11pm–8am quiet-hours wording, staff escalation and group-booking restrictions to reduce the chance of a repeat. We appreciate you raising this and are sorry we did not provide the peaceful stay you expected.

Great communication on WhatsApp from owner after booking, message explained everything and even included a site map.

N'a pas aimé Noisy, shouty drunk people in next tent, not the fault of the site but we were annoyingly kept awake all night.
