Sunnyhill Park and Campsite

A aimé The views were amazing - looking across to the otherside of the valley, Alfred's Tower near Shepton Mallet was visible on the ridge. The welcome from the staff was very warm. Electric hook-up worked fine. Plenty of room on the pitch (in fact me and my friend shared one pitch, with two vehicles and two tents)

N'a pas aimé The shower block was ok but needs some attention - only one of the two showers in the Mens area was working, there was no hot water for washing up, limited shelf space around the (only) sink - although it was clean. The "pub" / shop was a little quirky and not really stocked with anything useful. Maybe during school holidays when the site is busier it would have been more functional

There are generally 2 men's showers, one tooth brushing hand washing sink, in the men's. In the ladies 2 showers and 2 sinks 2 men's loos and urinals and 2 ladies loos. With a 10 pitch site and 2 glamping units this generally provides more than enough facilities altho as you experienced if one men's shower stops working.....shame you didn't report to me though instead of on here hey?

The shower block has had a small fortune spent on her in the last 5 years but she is a 1987 build and is an ongoing money pit.
No we don't have WiFi, our "honesty" shop is just to sell honey eggs logs and a couple of icepoles generally and is in the covered communal area next to our pop up bar, and with sickets for charging devices and a freezer for guests blocks.

Hot water for washing up is a weird one as no.one else has reported this other than when the propane ran out, you certainly didn't report it to me, so again I have not been given the opportunity to address an issue ......

I suppose you cannot please all the people all of the time

A aimé All good , great views small holding type setting chickens in the morning etc , the lady's on site are very friendly , water hot and clean wash areas .

A aimé The welcome my husband recieved was great, gave us all the information we’d need. We also loved the relaxed atmosphere and the fact the owners checked in with us after our first night as it was rather windy and wet!
I couldn’t quite work out how to use the tap at the washing up station as it wouldn’t heat up, within 5 minutes it was sorted and back up and working again! Nothing is too much trouble for the owners and their family. They were all so friendly, the sheep on site was a little too friendly when they decided they’d like to visit our tent, haha!
Also love the fact they supply feminine hygiene products, little touches such as these are what stands out and makes the difference ❤️
Thankyou for our stay, we will be returning again 🏕️

N'a pas aimé The showers are very temperamental, going very hot and very cold, made showering the children difficult but have read a sign saying maintenance is currently underway, hence why we didn’t report it :)

And thank you for not removing points for the shower. As it turns out the showers had a problem because unbeknown to us our water pump was packing up making the water pressure upset all the showers etc. So sorry for that. We have replaced the pump and fingers crossed it keeps us going for the season....lovely to see you all happy with the children here x sandy and the crew

A aimé Lovely, peaceful site. Beautiful views. Very friendly staff, especially Polly who made us a great bacon roll for breakfast. Would definitely stay again . Great location for visiting local attractions like Stourhead which is just 10 minutes away by car.

N'a pas aimé A little tight getting onto pitch for my 8m twin axle caravan but was not as hard as it first looked. No dramas in the end ....

A aimé This was a return visit after several years. Was great to see Sandy again. The site has changed since our last visit. Although the welcoming 'hippy laid back' vibe is still there, which is great. Forgotten how wonderful the view is. Great improvements to the entrance to the shower block & to the waste disposal area.

N'a pas aimé The light in the gents toilets goes out to quickly, I know it's designed to save energy but it went out during my husbands shower & he had to finish showering/dressing in the dark, which led to him banging his face & bleeding.

Yes the light is set for 4 mins on the sensor
I am not sure howbto adjust it as I presume behind the shower door the sensor wasn't picking up movement?....I promise I will look at it ASAP...here I come YouTube

A aimé Super friendly host, chatty and helpful, clean and well equipped toilet block, free electricity, nice views across Somerset, good pubs nearby (we went to The Smithy). Great to find a site open in early Feb

N'a pas aimé Nothing really. The host is making a real effort to help those of us who like to camp out of season

Sarah Beany and family use that pub and it borders on Cameron mackintosh estate too but still retains its local friendly vibe of local villagers and farmers. Obviously also glad you see the beauty in my place and understood Feb being open means maint happens along side guests. As I say I think I will close next year for a few months as the maint always invites negatives.

N'a pas aimé On arrival it was like turning up at a traveler site god nose the last time the toilets were cleaned mud and toilet roll on floor with very small cut off doors and to top it off the local pub doesn’t let dogs in what sort of country pub doesn’t allow dogs ?

What an upsetting review to read

Pictures on website are mainly of the summer and do not show the mud/storm damage/maint of dec/Jan ...granted but I would expect a seasoned camper who is visiting a campsite mid winter to be accepting of this.

Travellers site? Wow I am very sure no travellers site would be as pleasant as our place! and also very sure neither my mobile home tenants nor my winter seasonal pitch holders would appreciate your opinion

There are several local pubs ...you must of gone to Hunters Lodge they do not jave dogs inside but do outside as well as a fab children's play area. The smithy just round the corner and bayford Inn around the corner in the other direction do allow dogs. As do the 5 local pubs in wincanton, the 3 in bruton 2 in Castle cary and many small ones in between so you unluckily chose the only one not allowing dogs.

Every year I wonder whether it's worth being open and reviews like yours make me feel not. I stay open as many people are grateful of it when most others are closed seasonally but I do have to do maint in the winter season and this does mean that not only do we have grey days, mud and muck etc but we also have limited daylight to achieve things. However to be frank, I really feel that the odd 30 quid to let weary travellers rest isn't worth what it does to my reviews.
I would also like to mention that with heating the shower block etc it costs me so much more to be open, and that truthfully this review deters me from being open next winter.....its just not worth the negativity

A aimé Warm welcome, winter solstice evening in cosy bar(n). Quiet at night, listened to the wind and owls, good walks from campsite.
