Rural views as you wander, or rural views as you sit clutching a cider on site – park up for a bit of both at scenic Glastonbury Camping and Caravanning, a small and family-friendly Somerset site five minutes’ drive from Glastonbury. The site’s particularly well placed for countryside jaunts – it’s a peaceful 25-minute ramble from here into the centre of Glastonbury, where guests can head out for hikes along the famed Monarch’s Way all the way to Wells. If that’s too lengthy, opt instead for clambering up Glastonbury Tor – it’s less than 15 minutes’ walk to the base, then a relatively easy climb to the top for cracking views over the Somerset Levels. More? Take explores further afield with wanders into the pretty Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where the oh-so-scenic Cheddar Gorge is already posing for photos, and sub-surface explores await at Wookey Hole caves. There's no need to trek that far for lovely vistas though… Views of Glasto Tor and the Somerset Levels can be had from the pitches, making evenings spent unwinding a proper visual treat. Settle in with a home-cooked meal – prepped in the basic shared guest kitchen, with fridge-freezer, microwave and kettle – then wash off the remains of the day in the shower block, where underfloor heating keeps toes warm even on chillier days.

Ce petit site bien entretenu jouit d'un emplacement fantastique au pied du Tor de Glastonbury, avec un accès facile à pied vers la ville. Les emplacements sont spacieux et de niveau, les sanitaires toujours propres. Propriétaires accueillants. A aimé Great location for walking into Glastonbury.. Fab view of the Torr. Quiet site but there is road noise which can’t be helped.

N'a pas aimé Most disgusting toilets and showers I’ve ever seen. Muck all up the outside of them. Floors wet with dirty water. Pubic hair everywhere and mop and bucket with dirty water that never moved.
No public transport available despite what they say.

A aimé Pitch - excellent, flat, clean, beautiful views, especially of the Tor.
Management - was welcomed by a very friendly gentlemen who showed me to my pitch and gave me all the info I needed, as well as advice and recommendations.

N'a pas aimé Facilities - sinks quite dirty and showers not very inviting. Not the end of the world, both still useable, ofcourse, but worth mentioning.

A aimé Second time here and loved it again! Friendly host, perfect spot and had loads of room for the campervan, awning and the table and chairs on the other side. Looking forward to our return next year.

A aimé Easy because given pitch before you arrive, so drove straight on
Ed came and welcomed me and gave me information and said call in at house if I needed anything. Small site, friendly neighbours, attractions walkable, view of tor from pitch amazing. Glastonbury easy drive or walk. Clean toilet block.

A aimé Lovely kept and quiet site. Fridge freezer available and washing machine. Clean shower and toilet facilities. Right at the foot of the glasto tor - takes 22 minutes from the site to the top of the tor. Village and pub close of you need

Glastonbury is known for its ancient sites, including Glastonbury Abbey and the Chalice Well, and a couple of museums – Somerset Rural Life Museum and the Shoe Museum – provide further food for thought for history fans. There are shops, pubs and restaurants to tick off while there, too, but if you take your shopping more seriously, outlet shopping centre Clarks Village is 10 minutes' drive away in Street. RSPB Ham Wall (15 minutes' drive) is a fine choice for birdwatchers; those who seek a bit more firepower can transport themselves to Fleet Air Arm Museum (20 minutes) or Haynes International Motor Museum (25 minutes) for collections of aircraft, cars and motorbikes. A taste of the West Country’s fave tipple – cider, of course – can be had by sampling the offerings at Wilkins Cider Farm (20 minutes) and Somerset Cider Brandy Company and Burrow Hill Cider (35 minutes), then stocking up on supplies for evenings by the barbie. For kid-friendly days, pile into the car with a picnic and get close to lions, tigers and monkeys at Longleat Safari Park – really close if you opt for the VIP safari tours and feeding experiences – or join the thrill-seekers at Brean Theme Park and Brean Splash Waterpark (all 40 minutes).
