View of the site from the tor

  • Small family-friendly site at the foot of Glastonbury Tor
  • Five minutes’ drive from Glastonbury and 15 minutes from Wells
  • Shared basic kitchen for guests, underfloor heating in shower block
Rural views as you wander, or rural views as you sit clutching a cider on site – park up for a bit of both at scenic Glastonbury Camping and Caravanning, a small and family-friendly Somerset site five minutes’ drive from Glastonbury. The site’s particularly well placed for countryside jaunts – it’s a peaceful 25-minute ramble from here into the centre of Glastonbury, where guests can head out for hikes along the famed Monarch’s Way all the way to Wells. If that’s too lengthy, opt instead for clambering up Glastonbury Tor – it’s less than 15 minutes’ walk to the base, then a relatively easy climb to the top for cracking views over the Somerset Levels. More? Take explores further afield with wanders into the pretty Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where the oh-so-scenic Cheddar Gorge is already posing for photos, and sub-surface explores await at Wookey Hole caves. There's no need to trek that far for lovely vistas though… Views of Glasto Tor and the Somerset Levels can be had from the pitches, making evenings spent unwinding a proper visual treat. Settle in with a home-cooked meal – prepped in the basic shared guest kitchen, with fridge-freezer, microwave and kettle – then wash off the remains of the day in the shower block, where underfloor heating keeps toes warm even on chillier days.

Liked Excellent, friendly, well maintained site with views of Glastonbury Tor.
An easy walk into town and even quicker to reach the Tor on quiet country lanes.
The facilities are always clean, and as the site is quite compact, you'll never have to walk far to get to them. Hot showers and handy washing up area with microwave.
The owner kindly lent us an extension cable for the electric hook up. (You will need a 25 metre cable for some of the motorhome pitches).
Would definitely revisit.

Liked Really friendly site and great location for an evening walk up Glastonbury Tor to see the sunset.

The site is very well maintained. We loved it and will be out first choice if we are in the area again.

Disliked The door to the bathroom slamming every time anyone goes in or out.

Liked Fantastic location at the foot of the Tor, with footpaths conveniently close (around the side of the toilet block) to the top of the Tor, white spring, Avalon orchard and Wick (Gog and Magog sacred trees). Solar powered site, so sustainable camping. Only a short cycle ride into the town, or the the Rifleman Arms historic pub. Water, hookups, chemical disposal, toilets and shower.

Liked Location great - easy to walk to Glastonbury Tor and the town. Small site, lovely and peaceful. Staff were lovely and super helpful when we had to change the date of our visit.

Disliked The only thing was the toilet door that slammed every time someone went in and out. I just wonder if you might put a soft close catch on it as it was very disruptive especially at night. It's a minor thing as we loved the site and location but just might make the stay more peaceful for others.

Liked Another wonderful stay.
Very friendly welcome. Nice pitch (5) semi secluded!!. Toilets and washing up hut very nice.
Glastonbury a shortish walk away, have not made it up to “The Tor” yet. My old legs might not make it. But “ The Rifleman” is a close 2nd.

Disliked Nothing to dislike

Local attractions

Glastonbury is known for its ancient sites, including Glastonbury Abbey and the Chalice Well, and a couple of museums – Somerset Rural Life Museum and the Shoe Museum – provide further food for thought for history fans. There are shops, pubs and restaurants to tick off while there, too, but if you take your shopping more seriously, outlet shopping centre Clarks Village is 10 minutes' drive away in Street. RSPB Ham Wall (15 minutes' drive) is a fine choice for birdwatchers; those who seek a bit more firepower can transport themselves to Fleet Air Arm Museum (20 minutes) or Haynes International Motor Museum (25 minutes) for collections of aircraft, cars and motorbikes. A taste of the West Country’s fave tipple – cider, of course – can be had by sampling the offerings at Wilkins Cider Farm (20 minutes) and Somerset Cider Brandy Company and Burrow Hill Cider (35 minutes), then stocking up on supplies for evenings by the barbie. For kid-friendly days, pile into the car with a picnic and get close to lions, tigers and monkeys at Longleat Safari Park – really close if you opt for the VIP safari tours and feeding experiences – or join the thrill-seekers at Brean Theme Park and Brean Splash Waterpark (all 40 minutes).
