A aimé Note - only my second campervan site stay and I chose it because it was close to Scarborough and I wanted to see what you got for this price level.

The pitch was large and level and everything worked - open and a good outlook.

N'a pas aimé A previous reviewer commented about the number of decrepit caravans as well as those requiring a tidy up.

The owner says they did someone a favour in letting them delay a “spring clean” and it’s a shame because the site is being judged on this.

The toilet block is a long way from all of the pitches and the owner clearly acknowledges that the block needs some work (leaking roof).

A aimé Lovely and setting, toilets and showers are clean. Showers warm and free!!.
Great to wake up close to nature being serenaded by horses in the morning, will be back!

N'a pas aimé The site was run down and resembeled a carvan graveyard.
The facilities were also poor, shower and toilets are basically in a glorified shed.
Toilets leaked there was toilet water all over the floor.

Réponse du gestionnaire : Thank you for your review and feedback — we hadn’t quite thought of it as a “caravan graveyard” but noted! There are a few stored caravans here, including some seasonal ones on the pitches where owners haven’t yet managed their spring clean. In one case, a lady was recovering from a broken ankle and her partner heart surgery, and they preferred that we leave theirs for them to do it – which maybe in hindsight I shouldn’t have agreed to. That said, this couple are due back shortly so I’ve happily past your colourful description on to them and the other owners for us all to do better with our housekeeping.

You’re absolutely right that the toilet block is of timber construction — much like a shed, just with better intentions and indoor plumbing. Unfortunately, the roof has recently developed faults (courtesy of an earlier contractor), and despite our temporary coverings, the persistent rain did find its way in down the walls. Not ideal, and certainly not the experience we want for our guests. The good news is, that this is already in hand: as per the notice signs, a new roofer is booked to replace the entire roof with new boarding and fresh fibreglass. In the meantime, I’ve been doing my best impersonation of a one man housekeeping team, mopping up as often as possible on rainy days — though I’ll admit, the weather has sometimes been winning! All of this would have been explained if you had spoken to us while on site.

A aimé A great place to spend a weekend. Lots of peace and quiet in the friendly company of horses.

N'a pas aimé Toilets and showers are too far away, making it especially difficult in the evenings. Lack of lighting (it's very difficult to find without a flashlight).

Flashlights are a must and this should be stated in the narrative when booking - I will double check that it is there and therefore if you weren't aware and didn't bring any then I wish you had told me when you were on site, as I have some I could have lent you 🥰. As to the distance from the toilet block then unfortunately staying in a pod makes you the furthest away but that said it's still only around a 150mtrs walk. We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback and all points will be checked and consider. Thank you

N'a pas aimé The site was used for touring caravan storage some of which looked like they had been there years. It spoilt the look of the campsite.

I'm happy to report that some of the said Caravan owners have now been and done their "spring clean" and others are due to do theirs soon. I've kindly past your views onto them so hopefully this will encourage them to keep on top of their housekeeping.

A aimé Fantastic place to stay. Everyone very friendly. Denise made us feel very welcome, such a lovely down to earth host. The toilet and shower blocks were spotless. We could pick our own pitch. Everywhere was very tidy. It's working horse stables on the grounds and it was so lovely to stay next to the horses. It was very quiet and peaceful, lovely little village. We will definitely come again and would recommend to anyone to try here. We're hoping to book again hopefully on July. We're so glad we found this gem of a place. If your wanting somewhere cheap, child friendly get booked in here.

A aimé The overall stay was great on the pitch. The ablutions are satisfactory for what you use them for. The local amenities are good, shop, pub (food) and a great chip shop. A water park close by too for nice walks or water sports.

A aimé Very quiet and peaceful. The toilets and showers are very clean. The instructions when you arrive are clear and easy to follow.
We needed a base to sleep at while we attended a convention and this was easy, convenient and hassle free.
