Feasting squirrel

From the Shetlands to the Cotswolds, the British Isles boast a plethora of creatures great and small in beaches, bogs, fens, woods and skies. There’s something for everyone.

What better way to experience Britain’s wildlife than by pitching a tent or renting a caravan or lodge?

Whether it's birdwatching in Orkney, spying on hedgehogs and squirrels or seeking out bluebottles and Jersey tigers amongst spruce trees and juniper, Pitchup.com will help you find the perfect site. We feature more than 150 parks listed as wildlife havens, over 300 parks with Gold David Bellamy Conservation Awards and nearly 3,000 parks within 15 miles of an RSPB (birdwatching) reserve.

Birdwatcher?

If birdwatching is your game, check out our tips for camping and birdwatching. With bluetits, kestrels, ospreys, pheasants and owls, spectacular scenery and 200 RSPB reserves, the British Isles seem to be a kind of bird mecca. The annual British Birdwatching Fair is the largest international birdwatching event and takes places from 20-22nd August 2010 this year in Rutland. Nearby parks include Greendale Park and Pheasants Roost but check out our proximity search for a full list of more than 70 parks within 30 miles of the fair.

Eco-friendly?

If you fancy an eco-friendly break, why not check out some of our parks with David Bellamy awards? The David Bellamy Conservation Award scheme is given to sites that protect and enhance Britain’s natural environment, for instance by creating new wildlife meadows. Pitchup.com features more than 450 parks that hold David Bellamy conservation awards. Thanks to our new filters you can now search for a site according to gold, silver and bronze awards.

Or naturist…?

If you’d like to camp au naturel, take a look at the more than 30 naturist parks listed with us. Several, including Studland Summer Camp, are also wildlife havens and near birdwatching locations, meaning you can experience a rich abundance of biodiversity.
