Straddling the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland National Landscape, Lodge Park is a well-maintained site that will appeal to those who fancy a peaceful retreat, perhaps punctuated by invigorating walks through the surrounding woodland. Dogs are welcome here, so you can have your best friend by your side as you explore the local paths – not to mention the caves and waterfalls for which this area is known. If you want to sink your teeth into something more challenging, the trailhead for the Yorkshire Three Peaks Walk (which takes in Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough) is a 10-minute drive away. Alternatively, you can admire the countryside from the comfort of the train on the Settle–Carlisle heritage railway (Settle station is about a mile away). Keen golfers, meanwhile, might prefer to while a few hours away on the greens at Settle and Giggleswick Golf Club (five minutes’ drive). On site, the toilet/shower block has been built with natural limestone, in keeping with other edifices in the area. On a chilly Yorkshire evening, you’ll no doubt be grateful for the underfloor heating in these quarters, which also include disabled facilities. The market town of Settle (five minutes), with its cute stone cottages, has numerous cafés and restaurants, traditional pubs and independent shops.

N'a pas aimé Toilets/showers could of been cleaned out . Or something we could use ourselves.
Trying to get dressed in wet/muddy area could be avoided.
That was the only let down.

A aimé Excellent location for walking. Easy to get into Settle and Giggleswick. We managed to get next to the river which was lovely. Owners were lovely when they met us at reception. This site has so much potential.

N'a pas aimé Serious lack of toilets! Only two toilets and two showers for women for the whole site. There were porta loos scattered around but these as well as the ‘main’ toilets weren’t maintained well. There are no specific pitches so just be aware that you could come back from a day out and someone could be parked right next to you!! Also people didn’t really adhere to the quiet time policy after 10pm. A lot of people around us were making noise until after midnight and well into the early morning.

A aimé Good location for other areas to visit in the dales, plenty of space

N'a pas aimé Long Distance to toilet/shower block. For such a large site only 2 WC's and 2 showers in M&F. Toilet roll run out by 8am. Cleanliness of showers for me needed improvment.

A aimé * The amount of space for the tent was great.
* Porta-loos dotted around the campsite.
* Walkable distance to Settle.

N'a pas aimé * I stayed for the weekend Saturday - Monday and the Porta-loos were not being maintained. Since the Sunday they were disgusting, faeces and toilet paper exposed due to the flap not being able to close. It is bad enough that the smell was awful, but to have the faeces visible for 2 days was horrendous. My friend was there for the week, and as of the following Tuesday evening they had still not been maintained even though she had contacted the owner. He did not answer her text.

* Paper factory is next door and was rather noisy at 06:00

A aimé Quiet site with lots of choices to pitch. Lovely little river which flows close. Plenty of portaloos around the site making the dreaded middle of the night walk shorter. Very close to Settle itself and walking distance to the local pubs and shops.

N'a pas aimé Not enough shower facilities for the size of site. Shower cleanliness was severely lacking. Closeness to the portaloos can be bothersome with the doors banging through the night.

A aimé The owner was super helpful and easy going (we have turned up few hours earlier not realising there was a checkin in time and he was fine with it). The facilities were good and I don’t think I’ve ever experienced clean porta loo with toilet paper for the whole duration of a weekend like we had at this site!

Don a hard hat and take a stroll deep into the bowels of the earth at Ingleborough Cave (20 minutes’ drive). Here, you can admire stalactites, stalagmites and other spectacular rock formations sculpted by water over many millennia, plus subterranean ponds. Dominated by a well-preserved medieval castle, Skipton (30 minutes) is on the banks of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, which you can explore from the comfort of a cruise boat or, if you feel comfortable around swing bridges, from your own hired narrow boat. On the outskirts of town, Raven Tree Top Adventure has hanging bridges and ziplines. Spend a day at the seaside in Morecambe (55 minutes), where you can take a leisurely stroll (or cycle ride) along the promenade, check out the trampoline park and have fish and chips alfresco, as you gaze upon the vast mudflats of Morecambe Bay. The mudflats might look inviting, but they’re notoriously treacherous, with quicksands and fast-moving tides, so you’re advised to stay off them.
