It doesn’t matter whether you’re a beginner or expert – this is a place where you can hone your windsurfing skills, learn to sail a dinghy and brave the cable waterskiing run (equipment hire is available too). Meanwhile, the North Sea is 10 minutes’ drive away for sunbathing, swimming and canoeing at Banjaard beach.
The outdoorsy action carries on back at site too, with waterslides in the outdoor pools, and a heated indoor pool for days that are less than sunny. If you prefer to exercise on dry land, challenge the kids to tennis matches or kick a ball around on the sports fields. There’s also direct access to (flat) walking and biking trails in Noord-Beveland forest.
Toddlers’ play equipment is scattered around the site, and in school holidays, Adventure Club staff organise face painting, dancing sessions and fossil hunts on the beach for kids. Teens don’t miss out either, with a games room and volleyball courts where they can make new pals.
While life centres around the pools during the day, at night things move to the central square, where you can dawdle on a terrace overlooking Veerse Meer, dine in the informal restaurant or keep the kids happy with treats from the snack bar. A handy kiosk is open all day too for refuelling on the go.

Vakantiepark De Schotsman is a handy location for adventures across the Zeeland region. Follow the N57 road to explore flat polder islands (15 minutes’ drive), stop off for seafood lunches at Oostkapelle beach bars (20 minutes), or stroll the dunes in Kop van Schouwen nature reserve (20 minutes).
Keep the kids happy at Deltapark Neeltje Jans (15 minutes) with a waterpark and swim sessions with sharks for the more intrepid. Other safe bets to keep them smiling are Berkenhof Tropical Zoo (35 minutes) for encounters with creepy crawlies and poisonous frogs, and Mini Mundi (25 minutes), an old-world amusement park with rides for younger age groups.
The kids are sorted, so now a day out for the grownups. Historic Middelburg (25 minutes) gives you a taster of Dutch cities in miniature, with its handsome Gothic cathedral and brightly painted gabled houses lining canals. Learn about local life in a couple of museums, or skip those and head straight for pavement cafés to linger over spicy meatballs and Zeeland lager.
