Not one, not two… but a full trio of pools make up the waterpark at Camping Le Domaine de La Garenne, a woodland site in the Drôme des Collines. The splendid aquatic area is the centre of this family-friendly site, where water toys, sprinklers and pools for grownups and tiddlers make up a fine family fun setting with plenty of space alongside to flop onto and dry off.
There's loads more to do away from the water, including a playground and trampoline for bountiful bouncing times, a pétanque court, table tennis and a games room for family competitions, and free wifi and a library for when you want to take things down a notch. A kids' club and family activities such as sports tournaments, music quizzes and aqua gym classes run in summer.
Camping Domaine La Garenne is a few kilometres from Saint Avit, in the south of the Rhône-Alpes between Lyon and Valence. Its woodland setting has several hiking and cycle trails heading into the Drôme des Collinesa, and it's within easy driving distance of plenty of family-friendly attractions including the Train de l'Ardèche and animal parks. Hills, orchards, vineyards and horse riding trails are all around the Drôme des Collines.
The site has a bar with terrace (overlooking the pool), a food shop with plenty of local produce, a bread service and a food truck present in high season.

Lugares de interés
Hiking trails of all lengths meander around Saint Avit and in the surrounding Drôme des Collines, between the Rhône valley to the west and the Vercors Massif to the east. The area's easy to explore by cycle or horseback too: bike hire is nearby and there's a riding stables 15 kilometres away.
To explore the local cuisine (of both the eats and drinks variety), take a trip to the Valrhona chocolate factory 20 minutes' drive away: yes, you can sample some of the wares while on your guided tour… Also consider a Segway tour of the Tain vineyards (45 minutes) at the foot of the Hermitage hills in the northern Rhône wine region, with a necessary stopoff at the Chapoutier tasting room on your way.
Kid-friendly attractions include Mille et Une Cornes goat farm (15 minutes), the Oasis adventure park (20 minutes), the Safari de Peaugres animal park and the Train de l'Ardèche, both 35 minutes away. Kids of an odd disposition may also like hoofing along to the International Footwear Museum, half an hour's drive away at Romans-sur-Isère.
