Some of the most famed mountain biking in Wales is within easy reach at Coed-y-Brenin forest (40 minutes), home to the UK's first and biggest mountain bike trail centre. Start off at the excellent visitor centre for information on these, as well as a scenic woodland setting with three play areas and an animal puzzle trail following an all-ability and pushchair-accessible path. It's well worth the 90-minute drive to Wales's highest mountain Snowdon too, to hike up it or to take the Snowdon Mountain Railway all the way up to the summit; spectacular views across the sea to Ireland are ready for your camera either way.
