Me gustó Loved the joining instructions from the owner when we booked and the human response to my follow up questions.

Loved the simple site layout and the free use of a fire bowl when buying logs. A complete fire kit was supplied including fire starter, kindling and a generous bundle of logs.

The site has an in the middle of nowhere feel, but is just a couple of minutes away from Shaftsbury with plenty to see and do.

Very friendly owner and his chilled out and accommodating attitude overflows in to the ambiance of the lovely but simple site.

No me gustó Portaloos are always a hard sell on any campsite, however well they are cleaned and maintained; but there were plenty for the amount of people on site, and they were clean with plenty of paper, soap and sanitizer provided.

I would like to replace the portaloos with eco friendly compostable, but they are very expensive and I would still like to offer a disabled option, which is tricky. The disabled portaloo does work for this. Hopefully a next year project.

Me gustó The campsite is from a walking distance to Shaftesbury, where all the nice pubs are.
It’s very well maintained, clean and tidy. Loved the showers :)

Me gustó Quiet, remote location with stunning scenery. Very peaceful. Short walk up a very steep hill to Shaftesbury town, not for the faint hearted. The views on the way back made it worth it though.

I booked a 2 person bell tent, however, as the site was quiet owner Alex upgraded my booking to the 6 man bell tent. Really spacious and even though it’s June and warm we had to try out the log fire. Super cosy.

We liked the outside showering facilities and the portaloos very well maintained and clean.

We had some phone signal but we went away for peace and that’s exactly what we got.

We very much look forward to visiting again in the future.

Me gustó Surrounded by the most glorious countryside with rolling hills and wonderful views the pitches are very large, flat and mown to allow fantastic privacy with long grasses and hedges separating them. This is a very small, quiet campsite with plenty of space and a choice of pitches well located to enjoy the delights of Shaftesbury, Duncliffe Woods and many amazing walks. The toilets are really clean and the showers afford you a glorious view of the nearby hills. We received a warm welcome from Alex on the day of arrival.

Me gustó Pitches - peaceful - friendly owner Alex. Stayed before as we live locally. Will be back again August.

No me gustó Showers. Children not happy using them sadly, grown ups didn’t use either. Too exposed. Not private enough and water not hot enough for us all as tried to use these previous visits,

Del administrador: Wow R, did you mean to put an overall rating of 6? That hurts a bit, and will take me a long time to work off (about a year of 10/10's normally). I appreciate the criticism of the showers. I did apologise that the showers are not working well, in fact I am having big improvements to the heating system with 3 solar panels going in hopefully this week, at huge expense. Last years solar thermal panel needs a pump to work it, and my small photovoltaic panel is just not enough, especially with low sunlight.

I appreciate that the design is a bit marmite. Most love the outdoor feel and simplicity, others like yourselves feel they are not enclosed enough. I pride myself on being completely off grid and wildish camping but with comforts. I certainly try not advertise anything but that. Mostly people are amazed by the facilities we have for a small simple site. I hope when you come back in August you will feel the benefit of warmer water, but I can not promise much improvements in the design.

Just a small point for everyone, I encourage people not to rate the accommodation, unless using one of my Bell tents. I can not be responsible for owners own tents that they bring!

Me gustó We were looking for a peaceful break away from the rat race and this is exactly what we got. Located close enough to Shaftesbury. The site has basic facilities but that is exactly what we were expecting. Only 2 other (respectful) groups on the site during half term - tranquillity! Raised camp fires allowed!

No me gustó We as regular campers all over country just found compared to other sites logs were expensive for the amount given

Point taken about the logs, I hope I didn't short change you. We always include fire lighters and kindling with the logs, and they are always seasoned and dry ash, but I may not have been as generous as normal. Better helping when you return!

Me gustó Beautiful, quiet spot. Being late in the season, I had the place to myself so it felt like nearly-wild camping with the benefit of a shelter for dining.

Me gustó Nice level site in a peaceful location within a 20-25min walk from Shaftbury (easier on the way back :P ). Great views and excellent communications from the host. I would definitely stay again

Me gustó Everything. We had the best time. Clean toilet facilities, solar powered showers, running water for washing dishes/brushing teeth (inside a really cool looking wooden hut!). This also housed some helpful brochures so that you could see what is around the area etc. There were fresh planted herbs out the front too which added a beautiful touch! Firepits supplied for free and logs for a small fee of £5. Beautiful scenery around the site.
We were lucky enough to get a chance to be able to stay in the 6 person, wood burner stove tent. Amazing. Really beautifully set out bell tent room with some nice added touches. Amazing view. We were all so sad to leave! Alex was very helpful, friendly, welcoming and informative. Sent over lots of information before our arrival. Alex was away on our arrival so unfortunately we didn't get to meet him. But he had a helping hand, who was also very welcoming, friendly and available to help with anything we may have needed. Absolutely loved it. Peaceful. Would definitely go again.
