Stay at Forest Edge

Me gustó Windy Ridge is a very beautiful setting with chickens, ducks and rabbits roaming which was an added touch. Only a short walk to Bedgebury Forest from the rear of the site and very friendly owners which made it comfortable. Extremely clean with everything provided and was even blessed with a home baked Victoria sponge cake which was delicious. Ideal getaway for those who like a quiet getaway.

Me gustó What a lovely place. The shepherds hut was delightful, clean and cosy (warm). The hosts were friendly, approachable and helpful. Supplied everything we needed and a delicious cake.
No wifi but the phone signal was excellent.

Me gustó ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Two-night stay in the Shepherd’s Hut, peaceful, cosy, and a perfect reset

Lauren and I stayed in the Shepherd’s Hut at Forest Edge for two nights and it was everything we hoped for a peaceful, nature filled escape with just the right amount of comfort and charm.

The hut was beautifully put together spotlessly clean, cosy, and full of thoughtful touches. The bed was super comfy, and we loved the soft lighting, rustic finishes, and the quiet surrounding us. It felt private, tucked away, and incredibly calming.

Facilities across the site were excellent: hot showers, clean toilets, a fridge, washing-up area, and a covered space to eat or chill out. We also used the firepit both nights and it really made the evenings magical, stargazing with a blanket and a glass of wine by the fire was just what we needed.

Being so close to Bedgebury Forest was a huge bonus, we walked straight into the woods from the site, and the trails were ideal for both gentle strolls and longer adventures.

Our hosts were lovely, friendly, helpful, and respectful of our space. They made us feel welcome without ever intruding, and even offered us cake and drinks on arrival which was a lovely touch and all the wood and firelighters we ever needed during our stay and all included in the price!

No me gustó There was a little distant hum from the A21 at times, but it quickly faded into the background and didn’t spoil the atmosphere at all.

Me gustó Where do I start?! From the second I arrived, everything just felt right with the world!!

Helen welcomed me and showed me around. Everything was pristine and well thought out.

An amazing homemade cake and apple juice waiting for me as well!

I spent time in and around the shepherds hut, hiking in the forest and sitting by the fire pit each evening, soaking in the surroundings.

You would struggle to find anything else that you would need, but Helen is so approachable, I wouldn’t have hesitated to ask.

I had mixed weather during my stay, which wasn’t a problem at all. The shepherds hut was so cosy, and very comfortable. The outside area and the fire pit was naturally sheltered with the trees, giving me the option to be outside too.

Bedgebury forest and pinetum is just next door and accessible from the site. There is Go Ape which is a 5 minute walk too. Scotney Castle is an 8 minute drive which I visited on my way home.

All in all, an amazing stay, and I will definitely be booking again. Forest Edge are open all year round, so I look forward to experiencing the different seasons there.

Me gustó We loved our stay! a small peaceful campsite with cute animals, right next to bedgebury forest, go ape, very friendly owners. We’d love to return in the future!

Me gustó A beautiful place. We stayed in the Yeoman hut, which was comfortable and warm and quite spacious. We were easily able to cook, and there’s bbq, fire pit, and lovely areas to sit and listen to the birds. There’s chickens and rabbits prancing around too.

The forest and Pinetum are next door, a walk away. Bewl Water is another lovely walk. And there’s nice farm shops. Many castles and mansion estates too.

Helen and her family are very welcoming and have put a lot of care into the place.

Me gustó Fantastic hospitality in an amazing location. Hosts go above and beyond to make you welcome and feel like VIPs. Facilities are clean and everything you need.

Me gustó Very cozy and tidy cabin nestled among the trees at the edge of Bedgebury Forest. Helen welcomes you with cake, apple juice, and marshmallows. The sanitary facilities are spotless. Bedgebury Forest is just a stone's throw away, with plenty of beautiful walks in the surrounding area. We stayed here for a midweek. This is the English countryside at its best.

No me gustó The A21 is nereby and you can hear the traffic, but it didn't bother us.

Me gustó Myself and my 12 year old son absolutely loved our stay over the last few days, especially with the added bonus of visiting the family horses and chickens each day!
What a lovely setting and an ideal local location for walking into Bedgebury Forest and driving down to Hastings for the day.
Being able to book just a couple of nights was perfect. Especially coming on my own for the first time.
All of the facilities were clean and perfectly located.
We stayed in the Shepherds Hut which was beautiful inside and out.
We will be returning !!

Me gustó The hospitality was first class. You turn up and welcomed with a fresh bottle of apple juice and a home made victory sponge cake 🎂 in your tent 🏕️. Also anything you need like charcoal which we run out of was supplied. All you had to do was ask the host. Nothing was to much.
