The Old Airfield Campsite

Me gustó Lovely location with lots of room across the campsite.

No me gustó The campsite is quite expensive, and there aren’t any special features to justify paying nearly double the price compared to other sites.
The toilet facilities are just temporary blocks, which are not very convenient.
On the day we arrived, it was declared a no-fire day due to the dry weather and wildfire risk. However, the site didn’t inform us in advance to bring gas or other equipment for cooking without fire. Since I booked the site only four hours before arriving, they likely knew about the restriction but made no effort to notify us beforehand.

Del administrador: Thanks for your feedback. We’re sorry the fire ban affected your stay—it’s something imposed at very short notice and all our campers completely understood as it was tinder dry; the whole area had a full fire ban imposed with no notice.

I can honestly say that most people tell us the showers are better than the showers at home! And we have our toilets emptied daily. Our guests also tell us they really like our large airy compost toilets

The Hub with comfortable seating, big stretch tents and bales of straw to sit on are also very popular and not common on every campsite nor is barista coffee, freshly baled pastries, pizzas and cocktails!

It’s not correct to say we’re more expensive than other campsites; tons of room, spacious pitches and all set in the middle of the forest with cycling straight from the site—we’re confident our prices are very fair. Few places can match that combination.

Even so facilities clean and very friendly and helpful (but busy) staff.
Ease of access to new forest for biking/hiking.
Popup cafe bar was open when I got up for coffee and pastries...!!!

No me gustó Setup wherever you like/can meant setup was a bit chaotic but meant I had to talk to the tenty neighbours.
Very hard ground bent all the tent pegs - Will get hard ground tent pegs for next time.
Quite open exposed site so shade was at a premium (This is not a complaint about the hot sunny weather honest.)

Me gustó Atmosphere, the Hub with great coffee & pastries in mornjg & pizza and bar and tunes in the evening, lots of friendly staff keeping everything clean, hot showers (not built in but a mobile thing with lots of showers), hot wash up area with great system (tubs to fill and tables to wash up on so lots of ppl could use it at once), kids loved cycling around, the location! Surrounded by the forest and heathland with loads of cycling direct from the camp.

No me gustó Nothing really, we just wanted to stay longer!
It was quite far from our tent to the showers but we could've chosen to pitch closer. No mobile reception which was a shame, and no electric hook up or freezer facilities (but we knew that before going)

Me gustó Amazing place liked the fact that there were different areas for families, adults and groups , loved the policy of quiet after 11 and that they do check everyone complies , staff very helpful , love the pizza and drinks options on site too

No me gustó Think they could put some showers in the adult area even if it’s one or two as it’s a bit of a trek from adult only fields to family area to shower

Me gustó A very family friendly and accessible camp site with lots of space. We really liked the site, and the Hub for coffee,pizza,beer etc.

We felt safe and loved the family feel to the site with lots of children riding bikes and playing.

No me gustó Under the flight path so would sometimes be disturbed by plane noise.

Me gustó Food trucks, coffee van, composting toilets, showers, easy going friendly staff, location, general vibe was excellent! different fields were good, a quiet field, Family field, etc.

No me gustó the ground was set like concrete but that's not the fault of the management all the staff, more the extremely dry summer top tip: bring a cordless drill and a masonry bit to drill a hole for the pegs!

No me gustó Because we stayed very close to portable toilets we found really enoying when people kept closing toilet door with a bang:-/ I know the hinges were stong but at night it was very loud

Me gustó Lots of space. Friendly staff . Bar & pizza available on Saturday night. Close to a walk in the Forrest or bike ride. 10 - 15 mins from beach
