Escape to Eskdale… or Wasdale… or Ravenglass – Parkgate Farm Holidays is within easy reach of lots of pretty places in Cumbria's Western Lakeland. You don’t even have to exit the site to start taking in those views, for there’s a rather fine outlook from this peaceful farm over the Eskdale and Wasdale valleys, with fields and forests thrown in to the frame too. Tempted to take a closer look? Fell walkers can stride forth directly from the farm, while more intrepid types scramble up Scafell Pike, half an hour away. Should you tire of the endlessly gorgeous lakeland views, a 10-minute drive will take you to the beaches of the northwest coast for a bit of seaside scenery. Ravenglass and Muncaster are both within a 10-minute drive of the site too, and between them, have Muncaster Fell and castle, a steam railway and the ruins of a Roman bathhouse. If you don’t fancy cooking, there are a couple of country pubs within 10 minutes’ drive of the site.

Me gustó We've had an amazing time in Parkgate farm. We've stayed in the middle cabin.
On arrival they have switched on the heaters for us, so the cabin was nice and toasty, which was very welcomed after a long drive from South East of England.

Bathroom was nice and clean. Water superbly warm. Couldn't fault it

Bedroom with super comfy mattress, duvet and pillows.

Other bedroom we didn't use, but look equally comfy.

Front room has everything that you need. Couple of 2 seater sofas, smart tv, little table for your food or cuppas. There is also a large blind which can be hanged on the large window for some privacy when you are in the front room. WiFi with very strong signal. Not once did we have any trouble.

Kitchen has everything that you need. From utensils to pots and pans.

We honestly can't fault it. We've had an amazing time, and will definitely come back. Best getaway we've had in a long time.

Wasdale head car park from the farm is about 25mins. And it's 25 mins only due to the fact , that it's pretty much impossible to drive above 20miles an hour due to the width of the roads and blind corners. But you wouldn't want to drive any faster anyways as the views are absolutely spectacular and breathtaking.

We would definitely recommend this place.

Me gustó Just the ticket. Stayed in the pod which was just great for our needs. Clean and warm. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Toilets nice and clean.

Me gustó The contact with Sandy and Bruce was incredible had a call at the start of our journey explaining there was strong winds expected and our designated plot was quite open so was given options.

Arrived and met Bruce straight away who showed us the available plots and we were able to choose one that was more covered from the weather for our tent!

They had fire pits and bbqs able to hire (fire pits are key for a weekend camping!) the fire pits were awesome, recycled car wheels with legs welded on!

The facilities were incredible the showers toilets and washing up areas were spotless warm and didn’t feel like a camp site!

Sandy and Bruce were on hand for any enquiries and checked in with us both nights of our stay which was so lovely of them

WiFi access was great, even if there was none it would still be a great place to stay.

Had an absolutely incredible time, waking up and seeing the sheep was an extra perk with donkeys just down the road we loved it!

Me gustó Sandy and Bruce were very welcoming. The site is so quiet and peaceful. Also the grounds are so tidy and the showers and toilets were immaculate. We were quite sad to only be staying one night!

Me gustó We booked a few nights here for a get-together with our son and daughter-in-law - we live in Wales and they live in Scotland! Although the weather was quite wet towards the end of our stay, the facilities were always clean and the pitch didn't get boggy. The views, walks and places to visit from here are many and varied. The site was peaceful, which is just want we wanted. We had a great stay and would definitely come back again.

Me gustó A perfect site size for a quiet getaway. The facilities were always clean and Sandy and Bruce are friendly wardens, on hand if there's anything you need. We took advantage of the last few days of sunshine and used our fire pit to keep us warm while the sun went down. Great stay, thank you.

Me gustó Incredible location, western lakes so no need to worry about busy traffic but still in the heart of Eskdale so beautiful mountain views. Small idilic campsite with clean and warm shower/toilet block. The wardens are really friendly and helpful and even provided smores packs (additional small fee) which we loved as we were unable to find marshmallows on route!

Lugares de interés

Legs a little worn out from walking/biking/riding? Take a scenic trip on the Ravenglass & Eskdale steam railway – there’s a station half a mile from Parkgate Farm, or you can board at Ravenglass, 10 minutes' drive away to ride the whole route. While you’re in Ravenglass, take a mooch round Muncaster Castle, a privately owned fort overlooking the River Esk. As well as tours round the castle there are also heaps of things for kids here, including an enchanted fairy trail, a maze and hawk displays. Golfing types can swing their clubs on the courses in Eskdale or Seascale (be prepared for potentially distracting sea views at the latter). There’s a sandy beach in Seascale too; if the water’s too chilly for swims, head north to Whitehaven (half an hour away) to the public swimming pool. The Rum Story, an exhibition in an original 1785 shop, is worth a visit up here too (and yes, you can buy bottles of the good stuff).
