Crooklands

Me gustó We were on our own, it’s a few pitches behind a house, off a busy road (this makes arrival very easy) Personally the road noise didn’t bother us, we listened to the sheep instead. The pitches were quite level, water by pitch. Lovely area, walks from the site. Recycling bins.

Me gustó Very easy check-in with information provided via text in advance. Peaceful site with lovely views over fields (road noise did not bother us). Great location for Austwick (pub and hotel with restaurant) and cheese shop/pizza restaurant down the road towards Settle. Also adults only which is a plus!

Me gustó 5 level pitches, clearly laid out. No noisy club house. As we have our own bathroom the lack of toilet facilities was no problem. Having an individual water supply for each pitch means no fetching water. Although other people have commented on the traffic noise from the close proximity of the busy A65, we were more aware of the cattle and sheep in the next door field! The trees around the site provided excellent shade on the hottest weekend of the year so far. Great walking area, you can't best Yorkshire for views and fresh air.

Me gustó Great basic site, very clean and well kept. Great location and competitively priced compared to the next door campsite

Grey waste is up a hill and not a big space so difficult to empty onboard tanks in a large van

Del administrador: Hi Harry , thank you for the feedback . I completely agree 10am is a little too early to get packed up and away. I have now changed the check out time to 11.30 . Sorry the grey waste is up the incline but it had to be on slightly higher ground to get the fall into the main drain. I hope it was not too much of an inconvenience. Hope to see you in the future .

Del administrador: Hi Steven , thanks for your review . I am sorry that the road noise was an issue on this visit . It was busier that usual as it was the May Bank Holiday weekend .

I was surprised that you requested the pitch closest to the road as you had stayed at Crooklands last month and left a very nice review . We do not normally reserve pitches but as you had stayed with us in April we wanted to accommodate where we can .

Liked: Lovely quiet and peaceful, only a small amount of pitches
Disliked: Nothing

I have requested that the listing makes clear that we are not far from the main road at at busy periods you may hear some road noise.

Del administrador: Hi David , thank you for your review. The traffic significantly calms after 6pm but I am sorry that you thought the road noise was an issue . The site is on lower ground and 60m from the road but I will add that so customers are aware.
The Yorkshire Dales is one of the most beautiful areas in the country so I think a 2.5 for location is a bit harsh .

Me gustó Perfect location for walkers/cyclists wanting easy access to the dales.

We were initially concerned about the proximity of the site to the A65 but, even over a busy bank holiday weekend there was very little road noise.

Beautiful views over rolling countryside from every pitch.

Facilities are basic but immaculate.

No me gustó Depending on wind direction, can be quite exposed.
