The Old Vicarage Campsite

Me gustó What a gorgeous campsite.
Off grid for the weekend
Only five of us on here
Camper and have a pitch just inside the field so the field isn’t driven on
The campers are given a wheelbarrow to bring their camping things in
The kids love the wheel barrows

The showers are rustic and water warm ( we had a glorious weekend weather wise )
The toilets are a shovel saw dust over your number 2 but well maintained

We were able to have a small fire due to the house fire pits. Logs £6 a bag.
They have an in house resident cat called sprout who adores everyone
And a doggy ( think it’s a Jack Russell ) comes to say hi too.
Washing up facility but no toilet waste disposal…. So if you poo you take it home :) which we did.

The field is well spread out
There was five of us and we all had our own space but people were friends and always stopped to say hi as did the owner too

We came 29/31 May for two nights £48 for the weekend.

Reedham and acle close by
Acle bridge is a definite pub to visit for the food people and the broads

No me gustó No shops on site
This isn’t a dislike, this is to make other campers aware to bring all you need
Nothing else to dislike :)

Me gustó Very friendly atmosphere, bbqs and firepits provided for free, high quality cheap wood available for purchase on the campsite, good facilities

Me gustó Very impressed with site, showers lovely ,
The site in general was very good plenty of room. Like the idea of no cars on campsite.
Fire pits/bbq supplied on site with wood blocks for sale. All in all had a wonderful time, definitely come back again and definitely recommend.

Me gustó There is lots of space here even in a hot bank holiday weekend!
The showers are modern and hot.
There are two sinks for washing and two separate sinks for washing up with bowls.
Drinking water tap.
There’s USB charging points here too.
There are four clean composting toilets with four small steps to get up into and urinals for the men.
There was never any queuing for the facilities.
Bins are by the entrance to the car parking lot
My sat nav sent me to the neighbouring farm to a gate that joins the campsite but isn’t part of it!! Don’t go up the farm track, keep going until you see the cartwheels and save your suspension!!
I had a lovely first solo camping trip here with my dog and I would recommend this site and I would happily return. You can bring as much as you can carry which was helpful for me as a newbie to see how much space everything takes!
I had no intention of doing anything while I was there and it was lovely just listening to the birds and the breeze in the trees. I did pop to the Norwich Camping and Leisure shop which is just a ten minute drive away which I can recommend a visit to!

No me gustó Not a dislike more of a mention of the bird scarer that goes off in a neighbouring field roughly hourly in the mornings from 5am and in the afternoons. It’s not overly loud but worth mentioning if you have an anxious dogs etc.

I think someone has previously mentioned solar lights in the toilets. I agree these would be useful.

Also some picnic benches could be nice.

Me gustó Clean facilities, no restrictions on pitch size or being able to bring additional shelters/gazebos, etc. Handy USB charging station and a freezer for ice blocks. Hot showers and hot water for washing up. Friendly resident cat! And good phone signal too. The fire pits are fab! Wish we had better weather for them!

No me gustó Not a biggie but could do with more wheelbarrows for carting your stuff from the car to the pitch. There was only two. Another site I've stayed at had several big trollies that fit more in, these would be an excellent addition.

Me gustó The overall atmosphere of the site is amazing. This was our first time camping in around 15 years. The neighbours on the campsite were lovely, everyone was friendly. Bernie welcomes everyone on site where he can and does his best to make sure everyone has the best experience. There are 4 composting toilets, 2 hot showers and a urinal for the men and little lads. Fire pits do the job and wood on site is lovely quality. Not bad priced either at £6 for a bag of around 8 bits of wood. You can pay contactless if you prefer! It’s based on a trust system so please don’t violate this. You have washing up station, drinking water tap and USB Charging station. Pitch was lovely a quiet. Definitely coming back at some point. Well done Bernie, lovely place you have here.

Me gustó Awesome little site, quiet, rustic charm, clean well kept facilities, the round the back urinal is such a cool idea !
Bernie was a helpful host, friendly and easy to talk to when he does his rounds.
Nice little walk to the garden centre/cafe, chame the pub was a bit further away

No me gustó More a suggestion than a disklike, but maybe some simple solar lighting in the toilets ?

No me gustó Would be even better if there was a climbing frame of some description- would bring in even more families :)
