After a cosy spot somewhere in the Cotswolds? Historic houses, museums and market towns are out in full force around the cosy Cotswolds Camping in its Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty six miles from Chipping Norton… to be exact, this family-run site is 15 minutes' drive away from Blenheim Palace and within striking distance of many characteristic Cotswolds trails. At the same time, Oxfordshire is the other way and Oxford itself is just 15 minutes’ train journey away from Charlbury Station (five minutes’ drive). As for those of you with a soft spot for a hardcore shopping trip, you won’t be left in the lurch here, as Bicester Village has a shopping outlet 35 minutes’ drive away and Stratford-upon-Avon is 45 minutes’ drive away for handsome riverside scenes and independent shops. Now, how about those hiking shoes? Well, the site has access to fancy footpaths, bridleways and woodland walks, so you’ll be able to get right to the rambling. You might want to stop by the local village, Charlbury, on your way around the local area, as there are food shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants here, all within walking distance of the site. And don’t worry, you’ll be able to carry the good time onto the site, as barbecues and firepits are both permitted – the same for dogs. As for the facilities you’ll have on hand, these include a play area, shower, toilets and a dishwashing area to help you deal with any dirty pots and pans.

No me gustó smell coming from the toilet/shower block and washing up block was disgusting. It’s says online noise to be reduced around 10pm but it was still loud even at 11pm

The electrics in the top field where we were stayed was shocking . 4 pitches off one electric point that was then used as an extension to the next 4 plots. struggled to even power the fridge in the caravan if I had anything else turned on in the caravan!

Cotswolds is a beautiful area but find a better site than here!

Me gustó Liked the location of the site. Set in beautiful surroundings

No me gustó The smell coming from the toilets and even the shower and washing up block was vile. The cleanliness in these areas was poor. We are far from snobs and have stayed on many campsites over the years but this was just dirty

The electrics in the bottom field where we were was ridiculous. Having splitters on the leads so you're running 3 pitches off one electric point. You pay extra for ehu yet with litterally nothing else on struggled to even power the fridge in the caravan. Others were having exactly the same issues so it was definitely the site electrics

Me gustó Friendly staff, lovely and welcoming, taking time to speak with each visitor.
Clearly marked out boundaries. Family friendly respectful behaviour. Nice having a bar/caffe on site, again staff were lovely and welcoming.

No me gustó Not dislike but could improve on, facilities are not clearly labelled. Would be nice to have a mix of facilities in each area and few more shower cubicles. Think it was due to them being very busy , pitches felt a little cramped with not much free open space to probably play or take in the beautiful location.

Feels like it needed more facilities for the amount of pitches but it was very busy when we were there so probably fine outside of school holidays

Me gustó Showers were warm. Washing machine and tumble dryers available. Fridges and freezers available. Toilets and facilities were clean. Pitch was fine. Clean. Grass and floor decent. Pitch was level. No issues with electricity. Owner who checked us in was a nice chap and engaging.

No me gustó Curfew at 10.30pm was a bit late and nobody really checking in on it (had drunken neighbours being quite loud until past midnight). Some idiot decided to use the tumble dryer at 11pm. There weren’t many toilets/showers for a large site so was often having to wait.

Me gustó Location and distance between pitches, parking next to pitch, ice pack freezer available, hire of a fire pit and purchase of logs. The facilities were of a very good standard and kept clean throughout the day.
Overall great location, peaceful relaxed setting, not too far from all the places we wanted to visit.

Me gustó I liked absolutely everything about this camp . The advert does not do justice to reality. On arrival we were wellcome by the owner / manager . He was so relaxed, funny and started sentence by ‘ welcome home ‘ and it’s truly felt that way . Surroundings excellent , between trees, plenty of toilets , shower , water points. There are freezers and fridges , there were plenty of place even in such heat.
Toilets and showers are clean, no waits etc . Mini shop, bar ( with live music on Saturday ) , gallery .
Definitely coming back ( but would stay longer this time )

No me gustó If you want to buy alcohol or other drinks to take to your tent , I would advise to go to the village ( 4min drive ) 😉. Pricey but I understand if you want something convenient.

Trail time? You might want to begin with the Roman Fosse Way, passing by the towns of Stow-on-the-Wold (25 minutes' drive) and Moreton-in-Marsh (25 minutes). Or from Lechlade-on-Thames (half an hour), perhaps you'll roll right on to the Thames Path, if you’re not drawn into the water with watersports such as canoeing. Characterful towns and villages are a Cotswolds staple and it shows… Burford (15 minutes) is boxed full of unusual shops, pubs and tea rooms, while in Witney (20 minutes), you’ve got classic entertainment courtesy of a multi-screen cinema, shops and leisure centre mixed in with markets and the historic Cogges Manor Farm. In Woodstock (15 minutes) there’s more history inside The Oxfordshire Museum. Like Chipping Norton (10 minutes), the place has a swimming pool, shops, pubs and tea rooms galore, to add to Chipping Norton’s theatre and cinema. Historic are many of the houses around here, and that includes the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Blenheim Palace (15 minutes), the Jacobean Chastleton House (20 minutes) and or the 18th-century Buscot Park (35 minutes). For more activities in the throw of it all, there’s Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens (25 minutes) and Bourton-on-the-Water’s equestrian centre, brewery and motoring museum (half an hour).
